And why would your (wasp) flight experience have any bearing on his (BM) mechanical abilities? Your just mad he bad mouthed our Century's. Us Century guys constantly fight a self image problem, funny really.
Dont take offence Wasp your a great guy and have helped me a great deal and its not just you, its most of us.
I really wish Century would change there marketing strategy and get the stuff much more widely distributed. Every Newb thread says some where, "Fly what your LHS has parts for"
If Century had only 1/3 the dealers Align had, there market share would sky rocket. Honesty I am getting pretty tired of waiting a week to get parts for my Raven or Hawk, when regular as clock work my Logo parts get here in 2 days.........
I know Ill never sell my Century stuff but I wonder if thats because
A. Im a pack Rat who loves all his machines
or
B. I have WAY too much invested in parts to turn back now.
or
C. They fly great!

Fboss - Agreed!

We are quick to downgrade any person that posts criticism. This attitude that Century is perfect and is always the pilot's fault for whatever is a killer and turns everybody completely away!

Just re-read the replies on this thread to the initiator vetteguy55. No wonder he disappeared. Who needs this?

My feelings exactly. We all like century helis but as soon as somebody speaks the truth about the product in a negative way, everybody gets defensive. Its just our opinion. It is sad too say that I dont even like responding here anymore.

I'm not mad or upset with BM !!!

I had an X-Cell 30 clutch blow-up on me on it's 3rd start, but in 9 years I never had a Century clutch problem, never had a oneway bearing problem, no tail gears problem, and I have read about other problems BM has had that I have not had,, so I have to wonder,,

as for Century's parts availability,, most of that is all on the head of your local store's owner/manager, meaning it's up to the owner/manager to stock parts (not Century),, my local store will not even stock blades for us, but the store I do buy from in Lee Mass does stock many Century parts,, so no-matter what heli I own I ether have to have the parts shipped to me or drive 80 miles to buy over the counter..

In the states we have TWO true choices
Heli-World and Rons (aka HP south). Thats it.

Either a choice to limit resalers or pixx poor marketing. Thats the only two reasons I can come up with because the helis are good and speak for themselves, in the air.

Come on, give 5-10-25 shops a good stocking deal or even front them the stock. Hell give em starting stock. Century has done some very good things, there own factory for one.

Its time to step up and play with the big boys,
Please?

in 9 years I never had a Century clutch problem, never had a oneway bearing problem

My new NX after a gallon the clutch broke! and guess what.. myself and a couple others that fly here in Ottawa have had the oneway lock up! Does not matter how good you are at building, these problems have nothing to do with building skill its the quality of the parts! some batches are better than others IMO, that's why some kit are perfect and others ..well

I have also owned a hawk pro and a original raven, and when I owned those kits I never had the problems like clutch breaking and oneway locking up. I was also treating them like crap and at the time did not have good heli assembly skills and never had a problem.

I think its a hit and miss game with kits... all make of kits to boot!
Some good, some not so good. I also hate when cheerleaders say its got to be the builders fault do to a lack of experience when its NOT!

Anyways Century makes good helis over all and that's why I fly them!
Best value IMO quality to cost ratio is awesome!

Cheers,
Raven

It's a love/hate relationship

trust me my building skills are more then adequate, but I didn't build the failed component

All of the above

I have about 1500$ in Hawk kinetic & Raven parts/kits alone. I got my own little store in the closet.

it's not about bashing Century

why are the heli's in my area affected and not elsewhere ?

Just stating facts! If you call that cheerleading

I did say kits are hit and miss. If I was cheerleading I would say century machines are perfect, I have been flying them for 9 years with NO problems! and if you have problems ...ITS YOUR FAULT!

Show me another 50 size kit that compares at $300

well I really wasn't saying I never had a ruff set of Tail Gears or a Clutch Shoe go bad, because I have,, yet I never had a Tail Gear set go bad in flight !!, if they happen to be ruff out of the package a bit of filing and things are fine and smooth,,
I did have one Clutch Shoe come close to failing (did have Clutches fail do to crashing),, but so, I don't consider these type of thing to be problems, not at all !!

I went back and re read this thread. I cant understand flyswatter40 arrived at his/your conclusion........Century is a good line. They have just come out with 2 very nice machines including a first in class 50 Gasser that looks great. Whatever parts issues that may have been an issue, I dont know 'casuse I have never had an out of stock issue, are in the dim past. They have there own factory and are dedicated to RC helis. IMO, the only issues is lack of dealers and marketing. The heads on the Hawk/Raven/NX/Predator were ahead of the curve when they came out and are still as advanced and any non boutique heli. They fly great and are very well priced.
What else could you want?

Why would you post that question in this old thread?

You would probably get more attention to your question if you started a new thread.

One with the title "Where can I buy a Century heli in China?"

FBoss,, I have come to learn that it is not the heli, the heli is fine and you and I and many many others know that, by far there are worse helis he can buy, I have a friend that has been flying Collective Pitch RC Helis since 1974 and he loves the way the Century's 30s & 50s fly and feel,,
on the other hand I know a guy that bought a Raven and sold it before he completed the build simple because he didn't like the way the Throttle Servo was mounted, to each his own,, yes I would like to see flyswatter40 buy a Century NX, but it is all in his own eyes, maybe if he could spend some time flying one ???????

thanx for input
Ive asked this question before but was suggested to find parts in Hongkong shops, but Hongkong people speak different language(cantoneese) and the guys could not understand English,I also tried calling the factory , and they told me they are too busy to get into the market in China, I thought it is the Centurys stratege to give up market in China.
I love my raven

flyswatter40 ,, the thing about the Century 30 or 50 is they are laterally the most versatile 30/50 on the market,,

if you happen to crash an NX 50 and you don't care to put a lot of money in it you can build it as a cheap 30 with 2 different Tail Drives (Wire or Tube), or you can build it with 3 different types of Lower Frames (Plastic, Steel, G10) or 6 different 30/50 size Main Rotor Heads (Plastic or Metal) ranging from a 5mm Spindle to a 6mm Spindle or to a 7mm Spindle,, 2 different Cyclic Servo Mounting, and 1 Mccpm setup or 2 different Eccpm systems (Raven & NX), 5 different Gear Ratios (2 Ratios for 30 size, 2 Ratios for 50 size, 1 Ratio for a 4 Stroke engine),, 2 different Canopies (Raven & NX), 3 different Rudder Servo Mountings, ,,,,,,, give me more time and I will think of more !!!
