i`ve found a chinook line drawing which happens to scale perfectly with mine on the shaft front dimension , ie shaft centre to centre ,so i`ve made up a front wheel set frame in a near-ish correct position (nearly) i`ve swapped the tandem end to end putting the engine at the back aswell cos my semi sport scale chinook will have a bigger rear than the front , like the real one i suppose , so whats next , position rear wheels n build frame to suit , change tank position , turn the engine around , install electric cooling fans n ducts for extra cooling on forward flight and the chop up the rex frames at the back to make it look a tad better , but first n foremost a test flight to make sure shes ok on the end to end change , cheers ady

yep , looked at that , got some ideas in me head now , had a few more test flights tonight , really pushed the sticks hard to see if it would break , and it did but only when i gave it full pitch for a flypast , didn`t realise she was running 20 degrees pos and that coursed the front gears to strip , slip and allow blade clash , only one set of blades n gears needed , so i`m even happier now , re-adjusted the pitch too , will now cut up the back end and go again soon

well , using the line drawing i found on the net , and using a good old fashion hacksaw n grinder i`ve mananged to get the wheels in the near correct position , with the front n rear ends nearly the correct length too , just need a bit more ali and the rear wheels will be solid , have started work on a ply n balse structure ,the engine is back to the front and i`ll be using a tank mounted more central, cheers ady

have put a new bearing in the engine to hopefully cure the rattle , also moved the tank and front servo positions , will try a test flight this afternoon if the winds die down a bit or i`ll just go anyway , shes flown in 30mph+ gusts so far but it feels stronger out there today and the trees are well bending over , cheers ady

3 perfect flights today in rubbish weather , all was well till my gears stripped again in flight , and with some awesome blade clashes and a complete lack of headspeed , she fell to the ground nose first , totally mashing my hyper anyway , i`ll now build another , but it will not be from rex parts , or maybe i`ll try 700 bits, no i haven`t give up cos due to some brilliant flights with the tandem , i want more , so i`ll just have to locate some rappy 90 parts , and go from there , right its off to ebay to get some bits , be back soon with something stronger i hope

or as i recall the rex 600e tandem i built never stripped gears , but that was flybarless , so do any of you recon that the extra drag on the gears from the paddles etc worked against me , hmmmmmmm ,maybe one more go without any flybars next time

scrap that , 20mins and she`s rebuilt , using 600mm blades cos its all i got , i think i`ve sussed my gears problem , the gears don`t excatley strip they appear to unmesh/slip which causes the blades to collide ,the front umbrella case as its called has a few mil of movement in its casing which is allowing the gears to become sloppy and slip , don`t know why , so will do some hovering tomorrow before a strip out commences
