My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I've add thed the 620 boom and belt to my full metal 550. I'm gonna ran this motor with a 10T pinion with using 5 and 6 cell packs (not together)

Hoping to get a HS of 2100-2200 with 600mm blades. Anyone have experience with this motor?

I'm also gonna use the align 75A esc, I hope it will support it?

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The century swift 620 can run on the century 600A plus 1100kV rating so i would imagine u shouldnt have a problem depending on how its geared but i have been know to be wrong before and if it can work on a t-rex 600 there is no reason why it wouldnt work on a swift

esc might be border line

Mabey one day i will actually land one of these things !!

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		A 1220KV motor with a 10T pinion using a 6S (22.2V) pack will give you too high a head speed using a 100% ESC setting.

1220 x 22.2 = 27084 motor speed

The maingear has 96T so a 10T pinion would give you a gear ratio of 9.6/1

Considering a good 90% system efficiency your head speed would be:

27084/9.6 x 90% = 2539 !!!

You would be better with a 9T pinion for a gear ratio of 10.67

27084/10.67 x 90% = 2284 ! ...then run your ESC at 90% at the top and you would get a good and safe 2056 head speed.

I would suggest using the metal head (as used in their 620SE Swift)when swinging 600mm blades at such high a rotor speed.

The 5 cell would work out better on the 10T at the most efficient 100% ESC setting:

1220 x 18.5 = 22570

22570/9.6 x 90% = 2116

I'm planning on setting the throttle curve lower than normal to compensate for the higer KV on this motor.

I'm targeting 2100 - 2200 HS for both 5s and 6s packs (using stunt 1 for 5s and stund 2 for 6s on my DX7)

My 550 is full metal head and tail (minus tail blade grips)

I'm hoping the higer head speed will make up for the +10/-10 pitch throws. I can't seem to get anything past that range?

Also maybe try some wide cord blades too

I had no problem setting my Swift 550SE with the stock head at +12/-12. The geometry in the all metal head must be different.

Did you have to mod anything? I already trimmed the guide pins. I haven't trimmed the lower collar.

Any tricks or tips to get 12/12? I'd love to get that pitch throw!!!

Reading the Trex forums I see that is not a very good motor and has some problems.

Scorpion would be a much better choice.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Sorry, I forgot, I did have to trim the guide pins down about 1/8" or so - can't remember exactly now...may have been a bit more.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ben-T-Spindle. I have never been much of a fan of the Align motors and ESC's. I would go to Scorpion or Century myself.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I'm using a Scorpion 4025-740 in my swift and a 10T and it's a BULLET!
These are really great motors for the money. But I can understand using what you have.
I have also thought about going to 600mm blades in the future. That is kind of why I got this motor.
I'm hoping it will work ok when I stretch my Swift and go with 600mm blades. Using 550's right now and it gets a little warm
if it is over 95 deg F outside.

It will fly your helicopter ok so just go fly. Whether it overheats, has a bearing problem, or just craps out depends on how hard you fly.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I flew the motor this past weekend. Did do anything fancy, just some forward flight and loops and rolls. The motor seems real strong when punching out. Unfortunately I stripped the main gears. But so far impressed with the motor.

I'm running this on 550 to 620 conversion.
