Yahoooo

I decided to whip out a couple of heatsinks for the Razor 350 motor:

Hey, I may not be able to fly like the Compos bros but can they make bling??

Nice Mitch!
Hey there is new Neu razor 350 (or maybe a prototype) that has a 'heatsink can'. Dieselracer has one on his Blade. Yours looks like it might cool better; make sure that you put thermal compound between the can and the heatsink! Nice Bling Mitch!

My machine shop is strictly hobby. Here, have a look around-

Diesel: my razorsinks weigh 3.8 grams each. Not bad. . ..

Real hobby

My machine shop has been my main hobby for a couple of years. Lately though electric helis have been stealing all my time. It's really fun when the two come together.

Which HK tail motor did you buy? I'm trying to find it on their website.

Kopfjaeger,

The motor I'm currently using is the "Turnigy 1606" (3000kv) which in my opinion is a great choice for this purpose. Just be sure to run a GWS 4x2 paddle prop on it.

OBTW - It's only going to work well if you couple it to the T-Bird 9 controller and at least a futaba 410 gyro - although I'm dying to try the Futaba 520.

Either of these would work:

Any other questions feel free to PM (preferably not email) me.

V40 is no more

Yep, you heard correctly. I'm taking V40 down for good (or should I say, it took itself down!).

I've had dampening issues with the bling head (probably my own fault) that caused a crash or two and this time when I rebuild it's going to be closer still to the "Compos recipe."

V41 will be the same as V40 except that I'm going back to the plastic frame and a Futabe 520 gyro (soon as I can afford it!).

V41 post to come soon. . .

Regarding Dampening:
Use any windshield washer type rubber hose that has an O.D. of a little less than 1/4" and an I.D. of around 1/8" (Doug's idea a year or two ago). Cut it into donuts and install them. As I already said, I use a urethane hose (fuel) and cut slices about 1/8" or so thick and stick'em in the head. They (urethane) don't wear out & dampen great. I use them in the trex 450s too. Make sure that you still use the step washers but no more shims. You'll like'em!
