Hi guys

I was flying with a friend yesterday and he had a comment about RR and the Hirobo section in particular.

His observation is that the general high quality of answers and good information here on RR is by far the best in the Hirobo section. The experience of the support is better here!

Interesting.

Just thought i would throw that up in the air....

Paul

Who would say such a thing? j/k

But seriously, I think its true, and because of that, I cannot stop thinking about getting a Turbulence... I feel like if I own a Turbulence, I will automatically join the "professional rc heli pilots club"

There is nothing wrong with other helis and there are a ton of experienced pilots who fly them, but I just feel that the information that is shared in the Hirobo section is very technical and deep....

Maybe I'm just tired of "Which is better? Trex 600 or Vibe 50?" threads... Or maybe my interests are changing... What ever it is, its a bad sign, financially!!!

Regards,
G

I have a RTF X-Spec in the classified ads right now. The ONLY reason it's there is because I 'think' I want a Gibson SG Standard more. And I can't afford to have both. That said, the X-Spec has been the smoothest flying, lowest cost to maintain, heli I've ever owned, next to my EVO. And yes, I've owned other brands besides Hirobo. The entry fee may be a little higher with Hirobo, but you'll own one of the highest quality, best supported heli's in the industry. And it can hold it's own against anything else out there flying.

GO HIROBO!

Hirobo tends to attract a more sophisticated, educated pilot.
Hirobo also has some great reps that answer questions that people ask. MRC and Hirobo like to choose reps that not only can fly the helicopters well but also can tell you about them because they know their birds inside and out.
Some of the most educational answers you can find come from my Hirobo Team Pilot and friend BEN MINOR (Dr. Ben). His knowledge stems from years of tinkering and just being around helicopters.
You can find what you need from all Hirobo reps. (Terry Moore (TMoore) is another Rep and friend you can get a straight answer from.)
The answers don’t stop on RR. If you need help ask a Hirobo rep at a Fun Fly. You my not even fly Hirobo they can usually help the helicopter community at large.

Don't forget HelicopterMark as a great resource, I've had the good fortune of spending a great deal of time with Mark at events, and I just recently met Greg, and they know their stuff for sure.

This post makes me proud to be a Hirobo driver!

this is not an attack at the other heli manufacturer's

I find Hirobo helis have a bit more, how shall we say, "attention to detail".

If heli design were an arms race Hirobo is always slightly leading the field.

It's relatively easy to make an acceptable heli these days, but it's very hard to make an outstanding one. Hirobos have a unique quality all their own if you know what I'm talking about.

There was a thread in the Avant section about the Turbulence vs the Aurora. There is really no contest - apart from the price!! There was a lot of hype about the Aurora, but looking at its design objectively there is no contest. I'm not a particularly good pilot but even I can see that the Aurora is nowhere near the machine the Turbulence is in terms of design and the way it's made. But not many people will rave about the Turbulence as much as the Aurora because of the price.

My favourite heli to fly is now a Sylphide, with the Eagle VPUS coming a close second. Reason being I like how the Sylphide flies, it hovers so much better and 2048 resolution makes it that much nicer than before. But it has major faults. If it were made by Hirobo it would not have those faults.

I only own two brands of heli: Hirobo and Align. Take a look at the main rotor and tail rotor of both Evo50/SDX and T600N, you will notice that the former one is more sophisticated and that Hirobo has put a lot of effort and research to come up with such the design.

I don't have a Sylphide so I can't comment on its flying performance but I do have an Eagle 3 (the original with SSR-VII, VPUS, torque-tube) and I must say that I think my SDX is giving it a run for first place among my helis.

Yes, really! And this regardless of the pucker factor. (But then, what do I know about getting the E3 set-up properly...)

I know the SDX is going to be an excellent heli. It should be considering it has subsumed all the recent advances and packaged it into an affordable package. If I crashed my little Voyager 50 beyond repair I would get an SDX. I just don't like using the damn "screaming its nuts off" OS 50 engines.

I suppose what annoyed most people about the E3 was the SSR-VII head, and it took another pilot for Hirobo to take the gamble and go floating axle. I have yet to try the SSZ-IV/V heads.

VPUS you could not subsume into cheaper models because of the way it's done, the parts involved, and the need for rigidity. Also the fact that mechanical mixing and CCPM are getting too close for comfort these days with better resolution and software (and if all 3 bell cranks are same size, CCPM can do straight collection movements like VPUS for centre stick - a trivial geometrical observation). CCPM is cheap, trivial to implement (even for 135), and the 3D guys love it. VPUS is going into the history books for sure. Nothing more to say on that one.

I guess I will jump on the band wagon also. I have also had several different models including the EVO (my first heli). I actually had a Japanese rep setup it up for me many years ago and I must admit it was love at first flight, even dough I was clueless about RC helicopters at that particular time. I also had the opportunity to visit the factory and several Tokyo Expo RC Shows and Hirobo products were always the main attraction along side the pretty females. 2 cents

If they get that SDX to the UK they will also attract a darn good looking one too.

I am fairly new to this hobby compared to others. This year is only my 4th year. In my own experience other brands are attractive due to initial cost...but once you gain more experience and get to fly/build a Hirobo you will never look back....
