can someone answer a couple of questions about bearings for the beam?
i bought my beam second hand so i did not assemble it nor do i have the manual.
1) what size bearing is used for the inside of the blade grips with thrust bearings? the on line manual shows a #693zz but the drawings do not show thrust bearings? i feel these bearings are two thick.

2) what size bearing is used for the top mainshaft bearing block? the one that i took out fit in the bearing block flush and did not stick out the bottom. the online manual shows a #685zz which when i install it, sticks out some at the bottom of the bearing block? is that normal?

3) if i wanted to replace the maingrip thrust bearings where can i buy them. i have searched a # of websites and i can not find anyone that carries them nor makes mention of them. also the online manual does not show how to install them either??

is there another manual somewhere that shows how the thrust bearing grips/head goes together?
thanks

There are 3 different designs of main grips that I'm aware of.

1) Grip with 2 radial bearings, no thrust bearing.
2) Grip with 2 radial bearings, one thrust bearing (old style)
3) Grip with 2 radial bearings, one thrust bearing (new style)

The difference between the old and new style grip with thrust bearing is this:

1) old - 6mm inner radial bearing, thrust bearing outbound of both radial bearings
2) new - 8mm inner radial bearing, thrust bearing sandwiched by radial bearings.

The image below shows the use of the new spindle shaft (slightly longer) with the aluminum spacers for the old and new grip with thrust bearing. While I'm on the topic of spindle shaft. If you have the older slightly shorter spindle shaft, you use the brass spacers.

The thrust bearings for the Trex V-2 work on the beam. So are the radial bearings. I changed them out using Trex parts this past Saturday.

Getting the bearings out of the grip is a pain, even with heating the grip.
