Hey! I would just run the standard setup off the main lipo with a QUALITY BEC. Less weight = more flying time........Ron

I have always liked the idea of having a separate battery supplying the radio gear from the one supplying the motor.

I also found the Swift can be a bit tail heavy (depending on the size of the motor batteries and how they fit.

So I use a 2400/4.8 nicd in my 16 and a 3600/nimh in my 550. I found the difference in weight is handled very well in this size of heli.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with using a BEC of the main if you get your C/G in place....which is not critical unless you are doing as much inverted flying as right side up flying.

Yeah i dont know what i will do im am using only a 4s lipo so it might be a little light in the front i have read this before as well
i was thinking of using the battery becasue its a good one and brand new why no use it figured might as well not let it go to waste

Yeah that may be a good idea as the 4s lipo is light. The extra rx battery will add weight to the front for CG. What is your total setup???........Ron

Good setup for sport flying. The 60 amp ESC and 4s will be borderline. Make sure you use 520mm blades so as not to over amp the ESC. I would go straight to 6s and use that ESC, just change the motor....Ron

Strange I haven't heard of many ESCs that are good only up to 4s and not 6s. Any chance it is a plane only ESC?

Longer blades = higher amperage draw = higher heat = well you know the rest If you are just sport flying, You might as well run the woodies. You can go CF but it would just be an extra expense with not much perfromance gain for that given setup.........Ron

Going inverted is fine just the higher energy moves are the ones that kill you. Just constantly check the battery and motor temps. Anything over 20° above ambient is getting on the borderline side. As long as the temps are down, have fun!!!

I did a fair bit of sport 3D (flips, inverted, larger funnels, backward etc.) on my first Swift, that used the same 550+ motor and their 55A ESC (I believe the 60A one has replaced it) on 4 cell FP 3700-20C packs, using the stock 520mm blades. This was equipped with a Futaba 7CH radio, basic Futaba S-3001 servos and a GY401/9254 gyro/servo combo. Of course, all of this prices out a lot higher then the RTF combo, but it had much better radio gear. The Futaba radio was easy to change from a basic training set-up to a much higher head speed and collective/cyclic settings later, as I progressed.

So the heli, motor and ESC supplied with your RTF are more then up to the task. I understand the radio settings, servos and gyro are very basic and it all comes set-up for ad-intitio training. So I would suggest that you upgrade them when you are ready to progress into aerobatics and inverted flight. (That is probably why they sell upgrade kits that are designed specially for that.)
