I kept the metal tail pitch slider, Metal two piece fan, the and carbon control rod from the original Raven. I'm going to be putting the metal helical cut tail gears into it soon as well...not that it needs it, i just like them Actually, when it came to the tranny, i just pulled the entire engine out with the mount, gear, fan, clutch and all from the original Raven, and dropped it into the NX. everything is the same, so i didn't feel the need to rip it apart and have to re-drill a new magnet into the clutch and so on. So i now have an entire brand new spare drive system standing by. my kit came with both the origional main gear, as well as the new heavy duty main gear.
I do not understand though how this new heavy duty main gear will be THAT much stronger since the pinion is still the same. Since the pinion is the same size (length of teeth) there is still the same amount of surface area distributing the load.
With the bell crank setup and shorter arms, you need a lot of travels on the TX to give the same pitch. This is where your better resolution comes into play, as well as the reduced chances of stripping servos in a crash. you could easily accomplish the same thing on the original raven by moving the ball in closer.
I found that the linkage lengths suggested in the manual were nearly dead on. i just needed to fine tune the links one turn or so to get what i needed.
I noticed my NX is a little heavier then the Raven as well. about a 1/2lb more (roughly 8.25lb's). but i am using a much heavier lipo in the NX. I'm not sure if the tri-flow pipe is that much heavier though. I'll weigh the two pipes later on.
Pic's coming soon
