I dont know what it is but I have seen one very similar to it, if not exactly the same, in action. It's a heavy lift/high altitude copter. I work in the ski industry and we had one come a few years to fly in chairlift towers(40ft tall, 2ft dia steel tubes) into position at over 8000ft elevation.

Did some snooping but couldn't find a picture of when it was lifting our towers. However a google search revealed the following:

hold on to you hats..they make an unmanned version..world biggest rc heli!

"A ground operator directs the remote-control K-MAX helicopter using portable datalink and control tablet. The unmanned aircraft, which can carry loads of up to 6,000 pounds, may be deployed to Afghanistan to help supply troops with heavy loads even in the country's high altitudes."

I worked around one of these K-Max helicopters one summer. They really do a great job of lifting at altitude. They are nothing to look at though.

I think it's an awesome looking helicopter. We have a heli logging operation in Priest River that uses Kaman Huskies, an older variant of the K-Max pictured above. They make an odd rotor sound but are cool nonetheless. Someone did build an RC K-max, there is a pic floating around somewhere.
