It should be possible to have an exchange of different opinions without getting shirty, but this should apply to both sides. To me, you came across as if you were spoiling for a fight. If this was not really the case, then perhaps you should review what you wrote to see where you gave the wrong impression...

ever hear of Photoshop?

Yes, do you know how to use it? Lightening under exposed areas is relatively easy but darkening over exposed areas takes a lot more work – bang goes the profit margin.

As for the shot it is typical fullsize, flat and uninspiring and as dynamic as a tortoise on drugs.

Big Boy OZzz,

We are discussing and highlighting the pros and cons of aerial stills taken with a fullsize aircraft. I know this was not quite what the original post was enquiring about but Lunny seems to have a bent towards blowing the fullsize trumpet so I’m just enjoying myself by chucking him some fodder.

gjestico,

Absolutely spot on!! Careful, you’ll upset Lunny

aramsdell,

You dead right, I’ve been trying to tell him but he won’t listen. The fullsize for stills is virtually redundant if you want a shot that has ‘WOW’. If you want to create ‘MAPS’ then it great.

As you say, getting a shot like that is a doddle

Heck at 50 feet you could do that with a pole.I also use a 60 foot pole cam.

Poles are not easy to use over water plus if you want to move 100’ left or right is a load of hassle.

Tell me about it,I have never have seen such an argumentative group as the people on this forum.I state my opinion and people jump all over me.

You’re the argumentative one – read back!!!!!!

Is it is wrong to have a different opinion that someone else?

Nope, that’s why I am replying to your posts.

As I have said,I use all the methods available.Fullscale when needed,a pole when needed, even if its set up on a pontoon boat, and rc toys carrying the camera up.

This thread is supposed to be about the importance of a camera man/spotter for safety and ease of single pilot responsibilty.I merely brought in the fullscale option as an example of why someone would not want to do AP solo.It is not as safe as having another set of eyes and ears out there.I think the main problem is that most are not charging enough to even cover their own cost say nothing of having to spring for another person (camera man or spotter) to be on seen with the pilot.

As for Photo shop, most any picture taken requires some tweaking to get it ready for the customer especially if its taken with a relatively wide angle lens.(when you get the curved horizon) so if someone knows how to use it efficiently there is no problem with running it through the photoshop process.Again if you are charging enough the profit margine is not a concern. The issue with many is theat they seem to be low balling to get the job because they must not feel they are as good as the full size counterparts.I charge MORE for RC AP than fullscale but thats just me.

I agree,I didnt take that picture so youcan email the company that took it.
It could have been fixed with a camera setting prior to shooting and there would be nothing to talk about.

I never heard of 'Lunny' before so most over here on this side of the pond anyway, have no clue what you are talking about.mayabe you are refering to Bigguyoz.

I am reminded of the fellow who visits his doctor, who asks him "What is the problem?"

And he replies "You moron, isn't it obvious? Everyone I meet wants to argue with me!"

By-The-Way, Did anyone like the photo I took from over that saltpond? It only had a little chromatic aberation ajustment and converted to real low-res jpg. A really easy shot.

I do have respect for the tools of the trade.
I have been doing AP since you boys were playing with toy trains and slot cars.
I use multiple methods of doing the same job and it depends on the job which one I choose. No use arguing with the noobs here,it seems all the good guys in AP dont even post here anymore due to this type of bickering with the new kids.

I do apologize for bickering with a new kid too.

It takes two to argue.

Lunesta, I wondered how long it would take until you turned it into a "how high up the wall can I squirt" claim. You really need to address your attitude issues.

I taught myself to fly planks in 1977. I know Kittery,Goodwin Mills and belong to a club in Waterboro.
Do you assume that we are all a bunch of kids here? Maybe at heart.

I dont really care to pee up walls,I have just simply been giving my own opinion based on my experience.Others are the ones gunning down everything I say as if the way they do things are the only way.

The only reason,I assumed some of you were kids is because kids(boys) are the only ones that like to carry on and argue with me.And yes I am a kid compared to you old goats.
I didnt think the elderly liked carrying on arguements over and over.

How long one has been flying model helis means nothing about their ability to do RC AP. I have a friend that has been flying 7 years and six of them he has been doing commercial RC AP, solo too! His pics would stand up against yours anyday.

Anyway, I've been flying model helis since 1984 with one of Jim Morley's machines. The days of no HH gyros, no governors, wood blades we had to make (and weight) ourselves from a blank aerofoil section.
