Sorry to hear, Bert. This happened during the day time hours in the parking lot?

Perhaps it would be a good idea next time to cover it all up with a large blanket. Also there are car security systems like AutoPage that will page you via a key fob device when the car is compromised. At least you can be aware of the event seconds from it happening.

Good point Chris.

When Im out for FF's I usually take the canopys off my heli. With them off most people wouldnt even know what the heck they are...the canopys can really grab someones attention.

I still cant believe that people can get away with taking something out of someones car in daylight in a parking lot.

My car has pretty dark window tint, it is actually hard to see inside unless you are 3 feet or closer. I do have a paging alarm system, I guess we didn't hear it cause the restaurant was too loud and the keys were in my pocket. It all sucks how it happened, broad daylight, iHop parking lot. Very busy, lots of cars and people everywhere, 10 to 15 minutes to wait for a table, you kind of get the idea. These crooks had nerves of steel to pull this off.

No surveillance cameras around though, I checked with the gas station next door and they had cameras, but none pointing in that direction. iHop manager was very helpful and friendly, cops didn't show up for 1.5 hours almost though, they took fingerprints, but not sure if they're worth anything.

That is why I have 2 diesel horns hooked up to my alarm system!! When a thughead decides to break into my truck, people 6 blocks away are going to know about it!!

Did the vehicle have an alarm? (nevermind, I just saw the previous post!!)

You can claim the heli's through your insurance (or at least with state farm you can). I asked my insurance adjuster about coverage and they don't have a plan specifically for that but it is covered under your homeowners policy.

AMA has a coverage lost up to a certian percent.just have to prove to them pics, basic inventory of stuff stolen and that you actually owned the heli.

Bert.very sorry to hear of this matter and your loss.I hope some good comes out of this situation.good luck bro.

I put my Money on someone targeting the Helis not the car or Bert. If someone steals helis they know what they were stealing. And to steal in daylight they knew who got out of the car. Not likely personally but they knew how much time they had. I had my Kart racing trailer broken into and they passed on over $25,000 dollars of karting equipment; 3 Chassis, 3 engines, Data aquistion computers, wheels, tires, support eqpt. ect. But they took the huge generator, power tools, hand tools, microwave, walkies. They had to pick up a $4500 dollar engine to move it out of the way to get the generator. That was an opportunist crack head punk trying to make a quick buck, not someone who knew the real value of what was inside. Thats my 2 cants if I had more I'd send it your way Bert. I know how it feels. Pure Violation. You can add my eyes to the lookout.

Good luck

Phil

I agree.

Who's going to take a chance on breaking into a Yaris in broad daylight in a busy parking lot UNLESS you knew what was in it before the owner ever got out of the car?

Break into a Yaris on any given day, the most you'll get off with is probably an iPod and a pair of sunglasses.

3 years is enough time wasted. Taking a break for a while.

LOL. That's a very good point indeed man. The thing is Bobby's truck was parked next to mine with lots of helis too and other toys LOL. They could have broken into his truck too. Who knows, we'll see if this stuff ever turns out.

This is why l think its just a couple of chancers. Once they broke the window they might as well take something, anything. There was no iPod and a pair of sunglasses so they took the helis.

You could ask if the cops can check camera footage of the gas station itself. You never know, the thieves might have called for some gas and maybe the cameras could spot what's inside the vehicle...?

Best of luck!

Tach.

Yeah, but they knew you can't get parts support for Bobby's helis hence why they stole yours.
