Thanks again for the support guys. I personally don't think it was someone who knows me although I may be wrong, but if that was the case, then why not break into my car when it is part outside my apartment or after visiting the field? I usually go out to dinner with a group of friends after a long day at the field and we end up going to only a handful of restaurants. If that person knows who I am, they would have found me at one of those places and not at iHop as I only go there once every couple of months (if that).

In any case, Mark Graves (the son of the owner of Graves R/C) is a very good friend of mine, I'll let him know. I'll also call all the other local hobby shops and pawn shops in the morning.

Ben, you're right, setting everything up is going to be for sure a huge pain in the butt. It will also take a while to get all the stuff here, not to mention building, setting up, tweaking, etc. XFC might be out of the question for me at this point.

No Bert at XFC, no way! We've got to do something about this. I think you can get a couple of 700's ready and practice by then.

Out of Towner Theory

I was more thinking someone that was in town for the event, and saw what car/truck you and bobby have. If they were leaving when you came in then they would know they had the max time to do it.

Oh and also they had to have no conscience. I mean, even when you had serious beef with a guy as a stupid teenager, you never messed with his car, woman, etc, etc.

All wild speculation of course. Will certainly keep an eye out for anything matching that on ebay, I'm selling some of my stuff this week as well.

Crackheads normally steal stuff they can move fast so they can... get their crack. That's why my fish o meter caught something rancid.

Here's a little peace of mind that I always do. When building I always etch my AMA # on the inside panels or the bird. I like it out of site as well as on the inside of the canopy. Its like the vin number on your car, But my hope is if it happens to me and someone recognizes it I have proof its my bird or equipment.

Also I have a Jeep Wrangler and I fly after work. I just bring the Heli into the office building with me. The Jeep is tinted but easy to open. like a Camping Tent. I don't even trust the security in the parking. They stole some girls Catalytic converter from her SUV.

Bert, Good luck

Find out if that IHOP has a video surveillance system. Call 'em ASAP, cuz if they do, it might have a limited amount of days or hours saved.

Sorry to hear that Bert. You should contact every business, and building in the vicinity. You will be surprised how many might have surveillance systems.

Just do it.

Bert I can't believe this...I really makes me mad.

I think that is the same IHOP that had a violent armed robbery a couple years ago, I would hope they have installed surveillance camera since then, maybe they have some camera in the parking lot..I would definitley find out..Maybe you can get a license # or something. I'll keep my eyes out for your stuff.

How seriously do your cops take this? In the UK they probably wouldn`t even turn up, might do you speeding on the way home though.

Hi Bert & Bobby
As everyone else says it is really a shame when something like this happen and especially when it happens during the day in a highly visible place such as IHOP, I can't imagine the nerve it would have taken to do this.

Surely someone saw something, or maybe they were park next to you and saw the helicopters through the dark tent and just decided to break in grab them and go.

However if they are not heli pilots, (hopefully they would not be) they most be trying to sell them and trying to sell a stolen helicopter could be like trying to sell a well known painting.

Everyone in the helicopter community should be suspicious if anyone tries to sell a helicopter that closely fits the descriptions of yours.

Thieves

Going to go out on a limb here, but I seriously doubt this was a crime of opportunity. Who ever did this knows you in some way or another either through friends or maybe even spectators who come to the field and watch you fly and knows places that you frequent on a regular basis. I just cant fathom a criminal casing an IHOP seeing your helicopters and knowing what they are worth. Most criminals are looking for things they can move quickly (IE Laptops, cellphones, GPS's, wallets and expensive radios but then again most criminals aren't that smart. Sucks either way that's for damn sure, I'll be sure to keep my eyes on Craigs list and ebay.

Take care

Kyle

Bert,

Fax some photos of your Heli's to the local hobby and pawn shops so they'll know exactly what they're looking for along with the police reports.

Bert,

Sorry to hear about this. But this is a sign of the current economic crisis. This should be a wake up call for everyone, burglary’s are on the rise across the nation. The thing that bothers me, Helis like the ones that were taken are not very common someone must have known what they were/value or they were just plain dumb. What ever the case I will keep my eyes open. Make sure you check Craigslist, Ebay, and local Pawn shops too.

Ugly can be fixed stupid is forever!

Sucks and being the fact that they knew what to take shows they knew what they wanted.

My friend(kinson on here) had approx $5K worth of cars and radios stolen out of the back of his Jetta.

Best thing is either put a blanket over them if they are in the cab of the vehicle(out of sight out of mind). But the no 1 best is putting them in the trunk(if it has one) and disabling the cab trunk release, that way the only way to get it would be to pick the lock or crow bar the trunk of something, but its much harder than just a quick smash and grab through the window.
