What's the word? Everybody still approve of this motor in the Logo 600 on 10 or 12s?

Any comperables for power, efficiency, and price?

Hi TB,

I've got X-Eras in two of my three helis, and it would be three out of three if David made a 4020-1050 for the Logo 500. They have it all:

- Awesome power
- Cool temps
- Excellent efficiency

The only things that I don't like about them is that you can't lubricate the top bearing and David hasn't made parts available (like shafts and bearings) yet. But I have a lot of flying to do before I need parts.

Oh yeah, and the price is hard to beat too.

Keep 'em flying.

on my xera 4025 660, all i do is remove the four bolts and the top piece comes right off. you can easily get to the bearing for oiling, dont know if its the same on the 560

I would love to try some 4020 size X Era motors in 900-1400kv models if they decide to develope some.

How is the quality control holding up on these motors? A lot of companies come out with a great product, then it starts selling and quality control slips. Anyone have any thoughts on that? (Sue?)

Hi TB,

Hey, I had the wrong motor in my signature on HF. I'm flying the 4030-630 with a 12 tooth mod 1.0 pinion. I think the 560 would be a bit too low for 10S.

No problems so far, and I'm not expecting any. BlueViewLaguna on HF did some engineering tests on some of the components, and they were of the finest quality -- better than the high buck Actros. So I'm expecting the motors to hold up well.

I really like my X-Eras, but I have to say that the Scorpion 4025 in my Logo 500 is growing on me. It's making great power and my motor temps have been under 100 F even at 65 F ambient. There are a lot of great choices these days. But the X-Eras are my favorite.

Keep 'em flying.

LJS, interesting that you'd say 560 would be too low for a 10S machine. 560KV seems to be the sweet spot kv wise for 10S logos. I'm running the Xera 4030 2.5Y 560kv on mine and it is performing great with room to spare on the power and headspeed. Also tons of people running the Scorpion 4035 560kv motor as well.

Terrabit, here is some data on this motor. This is flight number 4 and I now have 7 flights on it. If you interested in those graphs PM me. I just don't have them uploaded at the moment and don't feel like rebooting the get them. Note that the grey line is motor temp.

So many gearing-options to the logo available, so on 10s about anything 500kv->630kv will work.

Have seen benefit of faster spinning motor though (mechanical advantage I guess)

Thanks guys!

A mechnical advantage seems logical. The faster a motor spins, the higher the static or stored inertia, the better to contend with dynamic loads. It seems like a 12t/mod 1 with a 630kv motor would spin too fast for me. According to Mr Mel's headspeed calc, 80% on the Jive puts it at 2400! I don't know bout y'all but that's a little fast for my skill set. I've been liking 2250 lately. An 11t almost drops too low. I'd be running near 90% on the Jive.

Any thoughts?

Phil, you got some pretty dense shading in your graph there. What's that all about?

Hi All,

Sorry to all for the mis-information. I'm getting my helis mixed up. I actually do have the 4030-560. (I had to check a photo here on RR to verify that. I was getting the 4030 mixed up with my 4025 which is an 830 kv.) How embarrassing...

I'm at 2166 rpm at 75% governed (w endpoints set at 83%) on my Logo 600 with the 12 tooth mod 1.0 pinion. I was going to dial it up to 2200 rpm, but didn't see any reason to go higher because she flies so well at 2166.

Keep 'em flying.

You calling me dense Terrabit?

Can't say for sure what each group was since that was taken a couple of weekends ago. Guaranteed they are my sorry attempts at mad 3Deez. I think the first group was tic tocs getting worse as I do my weak left side down aileron tic tocs.

That's my weak side tic-toc as well ... that and the right side, nose up, and nose down elevator.

So the 560 is good? I like that kv because I should be able to make it work "well" in either a 600 or 700.

Know any tricks for removing stripped grub nuts from pinions?

Are you sure of the KV? I see they list a 470, 560, and 710 KV in the 4030 line but not a 630. In the 4035 line there are the 300, 400, 480, 600. Maybe you have an earlier production run motor?

Drill them, its quite easy, then use a perfect size screwdriver, push it in, and back the setscrew out.
Since the setscrew is a hole in already, the drill bit will be centered.

Hi Ron,

I PM'd you earlier today on that very issue. I got my kv mixed up with my 4025. I am flying the 4030-560 with a 12 tooth mod 1.0 pinion. It runs at 2166 rpm at 75% governed on the Jive 80HV with the endpoints set in my DX7 to 83%.

LOL. I think I gave everyone I know the incorrect information. I must be losing my mind. They say that's the second thing to go. I can't remember what the first is...

Keep 'em flying.

Happy Flying!
