Building a Beam, and recently purchased an HSG-5083MG rudder servo. Already have a Spartan with updated firmware with the 960 microsecond pulse width capability required by the 5083.. Anyone have experience with this combo on their Beam? Thinking it might be a tad small, but is extremely fast. I also have a JR DS3400G which I could use. Planning to use JR DS285MG's on the cyclic. Thought of swapping for a DS3500G or Futaba S9257. Thoughts? I'm not able to manage 3d yet, but want this heli to be precise and smooth, and fly as locked in as possible. Thanks in advance.

I am using the 401 gyro with a DS3500G and they work great. No experience with the Spartan. I am at your experience level. Lots of FF with what would be called a hammerhead stalls in fixed wing aircraft. The tail is rock solid with fast and slow piros but again no hard core 3D yet.

Do these blades make my tail look big?

Any idea if this combo works yet? I bought a 5083 by accident, but I do have a spartan. Did not notice the 960 setting in my spartan, but I just got it and have not flashed the firmware yet.

Just found this:
http://www.spartan-rc.com/resources/servodb/servo.php

since the 5083 is listed, I guess that implies compatibility. Will try it tomorrow.

Spartan DS760 - Hitec HSG-5083MG

Huantran -

I didn't update anything yet on my new Spartan, and it flashed the (4) blinks for 960 microsecond pulse width as per the other servo selections do, except with an extra throw of the rudder stick. It was a non-issue. It flew the heli excellent right from the start. The tail was almost perfect from spool up. A testament to the speed of response of the gyro and servo together, no doubt. I had developed confidence in the Spartan and knew I wouldn't go wrong with it. I bet eventually someone will clearance price the 5083 due it's incompatibility with the majority of gyro's. I like my Align GP750 in my TRex 500, but it wasn't an option for this servo, as you no doubt are aware, and I didn't see a deal on the GP750 that was cheap enough to make the difference of a new servo. I think you'll be happy with this combo. I think it contributes to the Beam E4 performance. I figured worst case, I'd have sent it back for a swap with a 5084, but the Spartan setup made it unecessary for me.

Best wishes,
Rob
