Alright guys as of now the sheriffs Air 5 will be able to land between 8 and 9am Sat. pending they have no calls to go on. So if you are planing to put up a easyup I would wait until they leave our it may not survive.

some announcements

hello all..

i've been asked to assist in some areas of the funfly and am functioning primarily in overall coordination and contests. there are a couple quick announcements in these areas I need to make:

Air 5
As Apollo airfield continues it's relationship with the ground crew of Air 5, they are of course invited out again this year. This time, the Air 5 crew will be landing on the main runway from approx 8am-9am on Saturday October 10, 2009. (Edit: See hkellum's post above)

Contests
We will be running the following contests during the event:

1) Speed Contest (radar gunned)
2) Limbo Contest (using party streamers as limbo bar)
3) Auto-rotation Contest
4) Pylon Race LA3D Style (6 pylons - have fun!)
5) Aircraft Carrier Rescue Mission (you won't want to miss this one)

Details & schedules of each contest will be posted on the LA3D website (http://www.la3d.org) by our webmaster later this evening.

It all sounds great guys but let's make sure that we can actually fly during this fun fly. I have been to fun fly's where the field was closed for special events, and then again for noon time demo's, and then again for a contest or so, it really starts to limit the amount of actual flying time available.

Not to worry. The full size landing starts early as posted (8am). Note this is before the official event start of 9am.

All posted contest happen off to the side away from the flight line as posted on the LA3D site as mentioned http://www.la3d.org/contests.html

The only official flight-line closure for the entire event are the noon-time demos.
