We have 2 B400's. Replaced all servos and gyros on both.
One with a 401 gyro with a JR3500G and one with a 770 gyro has a HiTec Servo.

The one with 401 has a wag after turning the tail and during hover if you increase power as you would do to take off or adjusting to land.
I have set the gyro on the TX from 51-78. At 51, no gyro hold. At 78 the tail wags non stop. Currently set to 71. Seems to be the least amount of wag. I have changed positions of the ball on the control horn from all the way in to all the way out. I have worked with exp and travel adjustments. Not cured yet

The one with the 770 has a bad kick back after turning the tail. It will kick back up to 20 degrees. I have tried all described on the above B400 with the 401 but I do not know if it has a wag since I cannot fly it safely.

Has anyone else experienced these problems?
Because there are tail problems on both birds, it could be the design does not work well with higher end components.

First, if I was you, I would pair the 770 w/ the 3500 to start with. I'm running this combo and am very happy with the way it flies. The pinwheel stall turns are fun! I'm running my gain at 55 with the tail speep-up gear. I think I was around 61 or 62 on the gain with the stock tail drive gear.

Someone else will have to chime in on the 401, as I have no practicle experience to offer on this gyro. I have heard people complain about a constant wag w/ the 401, but I think you can get it worked out.

The 770 w/3500 will give you one great flying set-up, then you can work on the other while the first cools down.

The less a man makes a clarative statement, the less likely he is to look like a fool in retrospect.
