FlyBarless Beam

I am in the process of converting my Beam E4 to Flybarless.

I am using the Outrage Flybarless Head asm and the Skookum SK360 Digital Flybar.

I am using the Beam Main shaft with the Outrage Head. I found that the top Jesus Bolt hole is a little further from the top of the Beam Main shaft than the supplied Outrage Head. To fix this, you can either Grind the Beam Main Shaft a little shorter on the top end, or drill the Outrage head a little deeper.

I also found that I needed to shorten the supplied links between the Swashplate and the Head by about 1/2 of the threads on one end of the links. I also used the Guide Pin from the Beam on the Outrage Swashplate. I could also have used the Beam Swashplate.

Hover Testing

I did a little hover testing of my Flybarless Beam (Outrage G5 FBL Head and SK360 Digital Flybar) today.

After I got the Green light, I put the canopy on, and let it sit for about 10 seconds. I spooled it up, and did a nice smooth, slow takeoff. The Beam lifted straight up with NO inputs from the Ail or Elev stick.

Control felt great! I will do some flight testing as soon as the weather settles down.

Waiting here too, I hope Beam comes up with a kit. And the mini-Vbar sounds like the ticket.

I just converted my 'regular' Beam to Flybarless. The Head is a Gaui, the Follower is a Beam / TREX mix so it has double arms for equal weight distribution. I'm using the GyroBot 900 electronics. Overall, it works very well.

Waiting for my Rave Flybarless Head to come in. I've seen it on a friend's and it's beautiful ....
