| DJI descends at about 400 ft per minute I believe, what is an autorotation descent, any guesses, 1500 fpm, etc?

Depends on the amount of negative pitch. Try autoing and playing with the amount of negative and you'll find that the heli is capable of nearly floating down when near zero or dropping like a rock with -5 degrees. You can hear and see the rotor RPM change with the pitch setting. Typically I see people practice them from lower altitudes that won't give the time to play around, so go higher. Don't let the rpm decay too much and try pushing the cyclic forward for more penetration. The demo guys that do the so-called 1,000ft autos are giving a show and want a high rate of descent. They could just as easily demonstrate a high amount of hang time. If you FPV with sound, that is a lot of fun...especially if you have telemetry showing the rotor speed. Have fun with it without a payload first then add your flying weight.
