Congrat's on the upcoming build Bob...

I used JR servos, however your choice might be based on budget. 8717's should work out fine. I used a 8900G on the tail.

I have a Sullivan hi-tork with a 4s 3700mah strapped to it. works fine to turn over a 90.

If you want, check out the rest of the Avro posts, there is lots of builders information for you to take in. I've recently completed mine and I have a builders blog as well. If you have the time, check it out. You will find some very helpful information to guide you during the build phase.

It's located here:

Good luck and keep us up to date with your progress. Don't be shy and ask as many questions as you need.

Bob,

Myself and several friends fly at Ashfield R/C, in Ashfield, Pa. just south of Jim Thorpe, Pa., and a few miles north of the Lehigh Valley region.

If anything in the way of parts comes to mind I'll let you know.

Thanks for info,
How did you power throttle servo on your heli ( in your specs you have high voltage servo), reactor x gives you only three 6.8V outputs, receiver gets only 5.2v

Bob,

Because I have a Spektrum AR-7100R, I feed the RX directly from a 2S 5000mah lipo and I used 4 JR8717HV high voltage servos (Pit, Aile, Elev, & Thro) on the unregulated side of the 7100R. If you use anything other than HV servo's, you might want to play it safe and feed them through a step down regulator like you mentioned. In my case the JR8900G tail servo & Spartan gyro needed to be on the regulated side of the 7100R to protect them.

On my T-Rex600N I did the same only there I used a Spektrum 6010 regulator to drop the voltage between the lipo and the RX due to servo's that could not take 8V direct.

You might want to pull up the spec's on the 7100R to compare the voltage stats and choose from there.

Good luck,

Steve

I used Futaba BLS 451 and I just love them. I am using reactor X and have set it to 6V for a reason. BLS 451 are inexpensive servos as well. Try using the Outrage Muffler. One of my friend has it on his Trex 700N and he loves it and for a price less than $90, just cant go wrong.

Very nice heli. I went with the stable set up, but ordered the 3d setup and will change it as I am always scared of having a boom strike (could be mental block).

Happy flying.
