There is a "so called helicopter pilot" that lives in my neiborhood, and he is flying his trex 600 esp right in front of his house, and it's a apartment complex to boot.

I have flown with this person several times, and he has no disregaurd for safty for himself or others. As you will see in this video, at around 3:15 seconds, a lady and her daughter come walking out side their home to find a monster helicopter in their face. There is also little children watch across the street on a balkeny.

I have tried to talk to this person with a little respect and dignity, but NOTHING is sinking in. Granted he is extremly imature, and young compared to me, but I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.
He crashed his 600 yesterday evening doing a flip so he is down at the momenmt. He has very minimal experience flying. He has never attempted FF flight before. He learned how to hover, tail in, and tried a flip, succeeded, and now that is all he does is flips.

I live in this complex as well, and I just about can't stand to see this kind of neglec anymore. What do I do from here?

Here is the Video:

Tell him outright that he could hurt someone and that he should find a more suitable place to actually fly it. Be nice when you do it. If he gives you a ration of crap, then go to the land lord. Tell the landlord that you fly and that you belong to a local flight field and there are safety measures that you guys at the field observe and that this guy isn't observing these measures which could cause a serious injury to someone.

Man, I miss the eighties.

How do I politely say this? The video is certainly a property damage or personal injury lawsuit looking for a place to happen.

You can talk to them all you want. But if he is already flying there in that manner, he has no concept of the dangers involved.

Get ahold of the apartment manager, inform same and see if that could resolve the potential hazard.

That is just it, he has no such way to even begin to pay a lawsuit, so the property or persons injurys. So the attacked would end up paying the bill, and this would hurt the RC comminty for many years to come.

I just heard about this Video today, so Im not even sure I can continue to fly with this person. I'm so floored by this video happning right in my own front yard!!(I live on the other side of this complex, so front yard is a little dramatic, but even still)

it makes you wonder if HE even realizes the damage that would happen if he hit that little kid? or crash shrapnel hits a person, not to mention, the heli going through the windshield of a moving vehicle

You may even bring up to the landlord that because you have notified him of the danger that if he (the landlord) does not do something then he could also be held liable for neglect.

this has bad juju all over it....

I really don't want to see anyone get into trouble here, but Im dammed if I do, and dammed if I don't.

Maybe he will read this, and it will sink in how dangerous this business really is. By creating this thread, that was my thinking.....

Just reminded me of an old saying....."An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." And in this case, if mishaps can be prevented, no need to worry about injuries/damages.

Unfortunately far too many times folks just don't get it until they cause something tragic...... You have to say something to the management agency and tell them you have tried to talk with him with no luck. It not only could seriously injure someone, but cause serious property damage which will affect even more folks. When that happens it will also bring an unfavorable light to the RC hobby especially if there are local clubs close by where we should be flying...... period.

Wouldn't it be for his own good? Besides; you would be providing a much needed service.......

Honestly, you should call the police the next time you see him and let them handle it. You don't need to give your name or explain anything else, just call them.

Show the manager this photo and tell him it was caused by an electric heli smaller than yours (TREX 450) then maybe he will get a clue what kind of damage that 600 could do.

Is the Dip$hit in that video a member here? Whats his username?

Once you have informed the manager, he should take care of it. If he doesn't put a stop to it, remind him that he has been made aware of the risks and by his failure to act he is putting the property owner at legal risk. I'm guessing that should do it but if not then ask him how to contact the property owner. I doubt it would come to that.

Just as a note, this is not a small outfit. The company we rent from here is nationwide. So they don't pull any puches if you know what I mean.

That machine can kill !! A hit in the head by the blades it will kill someone !! You can save someones life by reporting this to the complex manager. If you want, do it anonymously, but please help put a stop to this Cretan ! If someone is seriously injured or killed by this guy, you will never forgive yourself. Sorry to put it that way.
And as others have said, once the apt manager is aware , then they will be responsible to stop this...

FYI if they do not want to take your word about the danger. I am sure you could speak to someone at the AMA ( district pres even) and send them a link to the vid. The AMA would gladly ( I would hope) explain to the rental company the danger involved. Being a large organization it would be hard for the rental company to ignore.

SHow the manager some of the threads here on safety and some of the pics of injuries. Explain to the manager about the dangers of flying that thing there. There is no excuse for being that dumb and inconsiderate. I wont say what I would like to do or even do if I lived there but I would sure go to the managers of the complex. maybe even file a complaint with the local PD it is threat to safety and a threat to cause property damage they will put a end to it.

Another way to see it... I am thinking of you. And I would not want to be in your situation. How would you feel if someone get injured? Or whorst... if this little girl get killed? For the rest of your life you will ask yourself if you done engough to teach this guy some basic. Might be a strange way to see the thing... but I am in a situation than I see a lot of people regreting this kind of thing.

I don't know if you'll be able to teach anything to the guy (I don't know him, maybe he is great and would agree with you), a day somthing could happend and you will think it is your fault... wich is not... of course! But you will feel like such. So... do everything you can... put sugar on his tank lol just kidding... ask him first to look this topic if you thrust him and if it does not work, call the police and they will kindly meet him and explain the danger, this is their job... thrust me... they like realy more to prevent accidents than to have to put yellow tape!

Good luck and give news!

Talk to the property manager TODAY - who cares if the guy gets in trouble, people's safety is more important than a bruised ego.... I would not wait a second longer to get this resolved.

Imagine if he hurts someone a few days from now at your complex and you could have stopped it today with a simple conversation with the manager.... We all have to police the hobby if we want it to still be around in the future.
