Update

Nevermind, I didn't realize the ones that fenderstrat had posted is actually a Compass part. Thanks!

In the atom I got the damper is a single hard plastic tube that the feathering shaft runs through rather than o-rings. Is this the newer version of damper? It seems hard as nails.

That's the only damper I know of and it will be squishy in no time. Mine felt soft and worn after 10 flights or so. I hate this design. IMHO it's the only real weakness this heli has oh and the old weak head block that I'm having to replace. Everything else is good to go.

Thanks.
So do any of the dampers that mentioned earlier in this thread work? I saw that amainhobbies has o-ring dampers, has anyone tried them?

Edit. I mistook the canopy dampers for feathering shaft dampers. So amainhobbies does NOT have 0-ring dampers.

So the headblock is still twisting in crashes? I thought they re-designed it?

He did say it was "the old weak" head block he was replacing, so I would assume he didn't have the redesigned one. I'm still skeptical whether the new design will be any better; it seems to me that the weak spot is where the seesaw goes through the head and as far as I can tell, nothing was changed in that part of the block.

Yea, I noticed that about what he said after I posted. So did compass take the horse by the reigns and redesign the headblock with o-ring dampers? I guess not since I don't see any out there.

I am confused, every ATOM I have seen has O-ring dampers, except for a few guys who switched to the KBDD ones, but all kits that I know of come with the delrin inserts and O-rings

I have a pre-production Atom.

It has the dampers that fenderstrat described.

I believe they all have these dampers.

I am not aware of any aftermarket dampers. Just the ones in the kit. If I did I would buy them. I have been experimenting with my own Oring(T-rex type)dampers but they are not quite right yet. I may see if I can mod some T-rex 500 dampers to work. Someone mentioned K&B dampers. As far as I know they don't make them for the Atom. is this something new that I don't know about?

At this time, KBDD does not make Atom dampers.

The stock dampers are hard, delrin tubes, with a groove machined around the outside to accept an O-ring. The O-ring should be able to be replaced, if one can find the correct size.

As a side note, I purchased a set of metric O-rings from an auto supply store yesterday and will post regarding whether any of them fit.

I did experiment with making dampers out of Trex 450 skid anti-skid tubes with some success. They were too small in O.D. and required that a piece of heat shrink tubing be put around them. They were also, IMHO, too soft and I went back to the stock dampers.

I am pretty sure I remember seeing a thread where someone had used KBDD dampers on their ATOM,a spacer was needed to take up play where the delrin insert would go.let me see if I can find it,it may have also been on HF

That's cool. If you just need spacers to make them work I'm sure I can fab up something. I actually cut one of the stock delrin parts in half to use for spacers with my current O ring set up. I need about 2 more millimeters to make it compress a little more. Until I get my new head block It's out of commission though. Let us know if you find it. Some KBB dampers would be cool. I wonder if the T-rex 500 spacers would work?

man I cant find it,I'll have to check over on HF.Unless it was a post about the K50 or 600e

but, anyway,I dont see why it wouldn't work as long as the KBDD dampers fit the headbloc and spindle.the heli wont care if the spacer is metal or delrin

I'll keep looking though
