I want to start off by saying Hi to everyone. Seems like a very informative forum with alot of helpfull people!! Now on to my problem.....I just purchased a CX3 from my LHS. This is my first RC Heli. I've been having good success with it thus far and last night I was able to fly it around the living room almost non-stop for a good 4-5 minutes. I had everything set pretty well (trim adjustments, gain adjustment etc.) and was able to hover with no radio input. Then out of nowhere the heli wants to roll to the left and shoot forward(as if I had the aileron stick all the way to the left and the elevator stick all the way forward). I've tried adjusting the trim for both aileron roll and elevator as far as they will go. At first I couldn't even get her off the gound before she would roll over to the left, but now I can get the heli off the ground and into a hover but only if I have the aileron trim and stick all the way to the right and the elevator trim and stick nearly all the way down. I also have to hammer the throttle to keep her from tipping to the left before she gets off the ground. Any ideas on what the problem could be?? Suggestions??

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

Hello

I just bouth the CX3, I owned the original cx from about 2 years ago, but moved on to Trx450 and trex500. Anway I couldnt pass up the kool looking canopy of cx3. The gyro/gain unit on these heli do need to be adj. every so often. And you will need to adj trims eventually, maybe every flight!! Also you could adjust servo linkages! I would rebind the tx/rx first. When my first cx died I had rudder trim maxed out and aliron jsut about maxed. If you are flying multiple batteries the 3in1 is known for getting hot and will act up. Great heli's just requires adjustments. Also if flying outside (ZERO) wind is advisable.
Here is a link to some good tips for CX3

Thanks GaFlyer. I called Horizon yesterday and was told that since I am able to get the heli in the air by adjusting both trims and holding the stick all the way back and to the right that all I need to do is push both servo pushrods down a bit until the swashplate becomes level. Simple enough, right?? Not a problem with adjusting the pushrods and the micro-servo adjusted nicely. Once I hooked up the battery the servo seemed to self-adjust and the pushrods shot right back up . I tried disconnected the rudder, aileron and elevator plugs from the transmitter, adjusted the pushrods in an attempt to maybe "reset" the 3 in 1. But nothing seems to work. No matter how I adjust the pushrods, trim on my radio or anything I do the servo wants to send both pushrods back up once I connect the battery. I'm getting ready to call horizon again to see what they think. Just wanted to get some input from some of you guys who have experience with the cx3.

Thanks Again!!!

Derek

Just got off the phone with Horizon. Told me I need to adjust the servo while there is power to it. They said that by doing it with the power on it would re-center the servo to wherever I adjusted it to. They told me to disconnect the pushrods from the swashplate and make the adjustment by turning down the pushrods? They said they are threaded and by turning them down it will shorten them thus leveling out the swashplate. Does this make sense to you guys? Shouldn't I turn the plastic pieces on the micro-servo to adjust the servo? I'm a little confused.

Funny I was at my LHS yesterday and they were trying to sell a CX3 for
$150 They are very dissapointed in it an told me it's a problem child
and are trying to order CX2's until this heli is sorted out at the factory! Could be they just got a lemon but the problems they were listing sound somewhat like yours...Good luck and keep us posted on how you make out!

I have a cx 2 that had a similar problem. When I got airborne it would would swing in a circular oscillating motion while maintaining its heading. I found that on the lower blade hub the little stud that goes into the blade had broke off on one side. The heli flew fine after I replaced it.

Thanks for all the replys. I found the problem. It was actually the swash plate. Where the plate meets the rotating piece that connects to the bottom blades, it had become seperated. After just simply snapping them back together and reversing all the adjustments I have made my cx3 flys pretty well. I'm just glad it was something rather simple, even though I'm pretty sure I hurt my brain trying to figure it out!!

CX3 drifts left

Thank you to everyone who posted on this topic. My swash plate also had become separated and caused the sudden inability to control the heli. I doubt I would have figured this out on my own. I was able to push them back together without removing the body and everything is fine. I was teaching my son how to fly his first heli and we had a few hard landings probably causing the dissociation. Broke 3 sets of stock landing gear. Upgraded to the carbon fiber CX2 battery holder and landing gear from [url=http://www.hobbymasters.com] and now have a great setup and can upgrade to even studier landing gear if needed.
