To correct any concerns yes the folks and founder of the Rumble are still involved, but it has been a very hectic year so far with work and just not been able to keep up as much this year as in the past. So Mark has helped out keeping the ball rolling, and to him I owe him my gratitude.

Finally with regards to the price, allow to me clarify. 25.00 dollars is for the weekend and allows for flying and your catered meal (see reviews from previous years) on Saturday Night. If you only[U] attend on Sunday then it is $15.00. We are selling extra tickets for anyone who is not registered and wants to eat on Saturday Night BBQ (friends family etc).

Hope that clears up any confusion, I believe the event in the past has stood on its own and we will continue to focus on what has made it a great event - Lots of open space and flying.

Music wise we will have the usual sound system and if you want to play some shiney CDs we can work that into the event.

Finally, with the open theme who knows what will come of the event, last year we had heli combat (may do it again this year), the year previous it was the tomato toss.

I hope everyone travels safe and looking forward to seeing them on Friday. The field will open around 8 am, but for those early arrivals you will get a good pit spot, but any flying will be done looking at the sun (field faces east).

Take care and travel safe

How many guys do you think you are missing out on by charging these ridiculous landing fees?

It's really a ripoff to those people that don't care about a catered meal or can only attend one day... Saturday.

Guess I'll be staying home this weekend because I refuse to pay $25 to fly at another field for just one day. And to think your members can fly at your field all year long for $48.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying a fee to support the club but it's got to be reasonable and $25 it's reasonable to me.

Enjoy your time at home

David,

Sorry to hear of your concern with the fees. I understand and you are entitled to your opinion to stay at home.

Feel free to join the club and pay $48.00 to fly year round we would gladly accept your membership application, but if you want to fly on Saturday or over the weekend I will still need $25.00 registration. So if you could write a check for $73.00 that should cover it if you choose to go that route.

I will not go into the cost or effort to run an event, this is not the time or place for that discussion. It is sufficient to say that I have run this event over 5 times and have not had a complaint or concern regarding the landing fee. Those who do not want to pay the fee just don't come, and the club breaks even over the weekend.

Enjoy your weekend
Erik

Welp... have fun! You're not gonna make any friends being a dick about it. Who'd want to join you're club with that kind of attitude.

Btw, I've ran events of my own so I know what's involved.

Thanks for the effort you have put into these events over the years BigE! This is always a great event that is well attended by some of the best pilots around. I hate that I will miss the majority of the weekend while I am working, But I plan to be there as time allows.

I keep telling myself this is FUN

I talked to Dave Milner(IRCHA President) and did asked him about the cost to register for IRCHA when in fact the organiozation do charge vendors and other companies do make their donations to make the event happen anyways. After he explained to me the things that IRCHA do pay for to run the event it was amazing how much cost there are to make it happen and it is just right to pay that amount to make it happen. Anywhere from manpower, portable restrooms, tents, etc, etc..... This goes the same to smaller fufnlies around the nations.
I don't see anything wrong on what BIG E said but just merely saying that there are some cost to run the event and certainly any club around the nation doesn't want to dig in their own fund and take a lost. If the local club made some money running the event they earned that by providing tons of fun for those people/pilots that attended the event but most of the time many of this clubs do just brake even and just earn great reputation of running a great event that fliers look forward to every year than anything.
My own opinion is this, I go to funflies that I know I will have fun and most of all, meet new and old friends and if that would cost me anywhere from $5 to $50 then so be it. just my two cents. Pinoy.

Right on Andy, considering what you have invested in your helis and travel 25 bucks is really not much.
These events cost money to put on this disagreement should have been carried out through pm's not posts

By all means it costs money to put on an event and the goal is to profit from it to help fund other things that the club might want to do.

If I were traveling 200 miles and were to make a weekend out of it you're correct the $25 isn't much. I however live just 40 miles away and could only make for one day. With that being the case $25 is more than I was willing to spend. I did send a PM to Corbin (the OP of this thread) and he replied telling me it would be $15 if we did not stick around for the dinner. That seemed like a much better deal and I was planning to still make the trip up on Saturday until Erik posted his reply saying this wasn't the case.

Bottom line is you can charge what ever you please. I was simply asking if there was going to be a price break for those that did not partake in the catered dinner. It then turned into a self defense class for Erik. Interestingly enough this is 'his' event but it was his first post about it.

Have a great weekend for those that spend the whole time up there. However for me it's just not worth coming for one day.

David,

As long as the rumble is on, I wont miss it. Even if the landing fee was $100.

Come on out and hang with us, I guarantee you will have a blast.

I'll even offer to pay for your landing fee, and let you yell at Eric with the megaphone.

Hope to see you there.

-Jim

Rumble is around 24 hours of solid fun and entertainment for $25. That comes out to $1 / hr.

Stay home and go to the movies and dinner for 6 hours of solid entertainment @ $50 That comes out to $8.3/hr.

It only makes sense to come to the rumble.
