FBL addiction

Come on Anthony, with your fleet I cannot beleive liquidity should be of any concern 2 U! Of course: Once u have a V-Stabi 4.0 set up and tweeked there is absolutely no objective reason to try something else. But we both know that this hobby is about much more than than, trying new things, modifying, experimenting....Out of my 13 birds 6 are FBL right now and 2 are conversions basicaly just with stock parts. As you know from Henseleit, there is no reason not to buy things directly with the manufactureres in Europe (we Europeans buy lot of stuff from the US). These are usually small companies with excellent service...

p.s. I think you are also still missing a bird from Minicopter in your collection

Anybody interested, here are the settings I use for my Joker 3DD and the Gyrobot 900 (Should be OK also for the Gyrobot 700 on similar 90 size machines)

GyroBot 900 Setup for Henseleit 3D MPXL, Henseleit RIGID or Joker 3DD:

Tail P: 200
Tail I: 250
Elevator P 350
Elevator I 500
Aileron P 250
Aileron I 350
Expo 40% on all Axes
ATV 45% for Aileron and Elevator
ATV 70% for Tailservo

It works real good with those settings but I am not such a good 3D pilot so for somebody better than me it might need a bit more ATV and less expo on the cyclic .
For the tail it is very responsive and rock solid so it should stay with those values.

For piros, I left the piro parameter at 0 but better pilots might want to try something like 1 or 2, maybe more in order to get perfectly level very fast piros without any cyclic corrections

The so called "beginer mode" is basically a 3 axis heading hold + 3 axis accelerometers used to bias the P part of the control loops so once you figure out how it works it is actually quite a nice stabilisation device, much better 3 axis stabilsation than the Helicommand but of course no optical sensor to keep a (Kind of...) steady position

Cheers

Serge:
thanks a lot! I might try the Gyrobot on my 3DD Should make things much easier using it for the first time.
Anthony:
Maybe you should have a look at the Joker 3DD once, there is quite a large number of them in the US. With a 12s-fueled Kontronik Pyro powering the main rotor and a 4s-driven Hacker 30 XL on the tail (combined peak power nearly 8 kW (!!) ,climbouts are something absolutely beyond reality of contemporary RC-helis

Twinpeak,

Correct, the 3DD is incredible, very efficient, minimum mechanical losses, very light and extremely powerfull yet extremely stable and easy to fly even for bad pilots like me......

With a long tail boom and 800 mm blades, it can probably lift about 10 Kg payload, almost double its total weight....

Amazing machine

Cheers

The Gyrobot 900 (And probably the 700 as well) work really good On the Joker 3DD.

There is a very nice system coming out which really impressed me, it is taking the Gyrobot and Helicomand stabilisation concept much further, watch this thread:

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t514921p1/

Herr Focke, the designer of the Gyrobot is looking about coming up with something similar using WAAS or EGNOS GPS for automatic postion keeping of the heli on top of the Gyrobot 3 axuis stabilisation.

This would blow the FMA : Startan, Helicommand or even the expensive Carvec position keeping systems out of the water

Lets see how it goes

Cheers

Unless you are looking for everything in 1 box!

That's what pushed me to the GyroBot.

I know, Mini-V, but they claim that it's only suited to "mini" heli's... We'll see. I still have a Mini Titan waiting for a FBless gyro...

The gyrobot would be a step closer if it has the capability to save the profile on a computer and/or share with others.

JAG72,

Now that you have tried both, and both performs the same, do you still lean towards the Vbar?

I am planning a purchase but still waiting for readyheli to have the VBAR in stock but after reading this thread I am leaning towards the Gyrobot too .

Thanks

Sure, but then there is also the AC-3X which has a tiny high resolution screen (and pushbuttons) built in, so you can change all of the couple of dozen parameters (in contrast to V-Stabi all are explained in detail) and do not need any external hand-held device or laptop when tweeking at the flying field......

NO....I would say that these 2 systems work so well that I would buy whatever is cheaper and easier to get...and in this case the Gyrobot it both easier to get and cheaper...

I'd recommend the Gyrobot any day of the week

I know of at least 2 suppliers of Gyrobot in the USA...which is more than Vbar..

Esprit Models has the gyrobot in stock

I tried the beginner mode as well as the beginner actro mode but I still have to copy the banks/files to each and make sure they are perfect before I switch them.
In the standard mode it flies really well and is very stable. I have a set of Gohbee 620s on the way to try out to see if I can get some "pop".......Ron

Hear is on 700 on T700 .

I have a few questions also :

I use for ciclic BLS 253, wich servo speed should I use for the ciclic servos ( it need to be set in gyro boot )?

Where I set the limits of the ciclic ?

There is two option avaliable, firs is ATV in the transmiter and anouther is swashplate traver in gyro boot.

And also the same question for the pich.

And what do you thing is reciver 617 from futaba good enough for drive this crazy machinery ( 3X BLS 253 and 1x 251 booted ) or I need too bypased plus and minus from each servo with exstra wire ?

Gyrobot 700

I use for ciclic BLS 253, wich servo speed should I use for the ciclic servos ( it need to be set in gyro boot )? I recommend the "speed" setting
Where I set the limits of the ciclic ? That is all done in the Gyrobot itself. Atv's in the radio only dictate the cyclic speed...not end point travel.

There is two option avaliable, firs is ATV in the transmiter and anouther is swashplate traver in gyro boot.

And also the same question for the pich. --Pitch is also set in the gyrobot...set atv at 100% and set the limits in the Gyrobot unit. I recommend +_14 degrees...and if you want to use less then use pitch curves in the radio by reducing atv's on pitch in the radio.

And what do you thing is reciver 617 from futaba good enough for drive this crazy machinery ( 3X BLS 253 and 1x 251 booted ) or I need too bypased plus and minus from each servo with exstra wire ? Nothing Special needed as far as reciever or hookup...just follow the directions on how to hook up the servos

Good luck

Anthony
