I know this topic has been beaten to a pulp, but here it goes anyway.

I dont care for the stock cylic servos, and they will be upgraded. The tail servo i have now is the one that came with my logictech 2100 gyro. I know the hitec hs65 mg and hb are the two most popular to upgrade to, but i am curious about ino lab sevos http://www.helidirect.com/inolab-ba...02hb-p-8070.hdx

What are other good servos in the 20-25 range?

Go easy on me, I'm new!

The Ino-Labs are a little slower in transit speed than the Hitecs, but you may never notice the difference.

If cost is a concern, go with the Ino-Lab servo @ $19.95. If you crash occasionally, your $30 will be well spent on the Hitec HS65MG(metal gear) servo. If you don't mind changing servo gears after a random crash, the HS65HB(karbonite gear) is the middle of the road here @ $25.

I'm running the HS65HB on my Blade, and I am very happy with the way they fly. I have had to replace gears a couple time now, but that is really easy and pretty cheap. I did the last gear change at the field to get back in the air.

I don't mind beating the dead horse, but he always just lays there....

Hope that helps.

Just got a Blade 400 3d, was used and I received a set of spare servo gears with the heli. Did not think much of it till I started having to change servo gears like s%^&*(it through a goose.

Can see an upgrade to the HS (HiTek) 65mg in the near future. sad as the set of servos will be a little under 1/2 of what the heli cost from the LHS.

I would recommend futaba metal gear servos because the hitecs reqire a significant amount of milling to fit.

I put HS65HB'S in mine and they fit just fine..no filing or milling required...ya start tearing up the gears, buy the metal gears for replacement, fit right in, according to the HS guy...haven't torn the HB gears up yet!

I would get Futaba S3156 servos if I had to do it again, digital and metal gears is the only way to go. I bought a set of hitec 5065MGs for the blade and a Furion I was building which are great servos but a pain to install in the blade. I believe the Futaba servos will slip right in. To mount the hitecs I ended up removing the rear part of the servo cage, I was't sure there was enough material to mill out to keep it, but apparently there is because I have read people have done that.

I'm going to throw my experiences into this discussion: I'm cheap as hell and as a result I ditched the really crummy stock eflight servos and installed Spectrum DS75's. I programed the cyclics to the heli mode and the tail to the tail mode and I could not be happier with them - inflight. It is true they won't stand up to too much abuse but they are stronger than stock, priced well and work just great

Matter of fact, the 401/ds75 combo works better than great: fantasic!

Nice looking machine Mitchilito.

Are you using the gyro in DS or Normal mode, with the DS75?

Thanks.

Unlike the stock eFlight servos, the Spekrum 75s are true digitals. I've got the tail servo programmed to the "tailrotor" mode and the 401 set to digital. It really works well.

EDIT: See my post below

Although that spectrum servo is digital, it leaves a lot to be desired for precision and smoothness even compared to a good analog servo.

Do the ds285 servos strip as easily as the stock ones in crashes?

Thanks.

The same gears are used in both servos, so yes they will.

For the record

I just wanted to go on the record about the spektrum DS75s. I pulled out the D75s and installed Hitec H65MG in my B400 last night (cyclic only) and flew it this morning. OMG!! What a freekin difference. In comparison the 75s feel "vague" and not nearly as powerful. With the h65mg's I feel totally connected. Control response is way up too. If you could only do one thing to your stock B400 this would be the thing to do.

I'm a happy boy.
