I use 401 gyros and 9254 servos on the tail on all my helis and if one of them starts to judder the tail from side to side, not a wag like the gain being too high, after months of being perfectly normal the first thing i do is examine the gyro sticky mounting tape and i usually find it is starting to seperate into two pieces, one sticks to the gyro and the other stays stuck to the heli. Replace the gyro tape and the heli is normal again. If the gyro tape is fine then 2 or 3 clicks leaner on the main needle cures it to. Again these are what works for me but if they can help you jgheli, then thats great.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!

Also ensure your boom supports are tight.

What sort of distance do i need from the regulator to the servo lead and gyro? Obviously space is tight....
Weather is too bad to fly today, tomorrow looks good though.

I did take the engine out today for a clean - but also to check the fan as somebody else mentioned that might cause me the problem. There is a tiny (almost invisible) warp to the fan. Could this be it? I repeat though, the warp is less than 0.5mm.

Im guessing this isnt the issue.

Tail bearings are all smooth.

Just don't run the wires bundled up right next to one another. I'm inclined to say the fan isn't the problem.

where is mounted? My had issues while mounted above the servos; moved back and problem solved;

I had the same issue with my 600np. There was a ton of rf interference mounting it on the front 2 servos. Placed in the back and all was good. This was a gy401 and 9254 as well. You can see it while on the bench actually. Lots of twitching going on

If you have a torque tube tail drive, check the fittings within the tail gear box.

I had a bad vibe around the tail of my Predator a while back. It was one of the fittings on the drive train coming loose. It would go away if I landed and powered down...I could power back up and the vibe would go...but then come back again after I had flown a circuit.

Just a thought.

Quality takes........time!

You may want to check to confirm that the carrier bearings are in the proper position in the tail boom so that you are not getting a "whip" in the drive shaft...
Just a thought...
Good luck

If it is a gyro mounting issue you might consider a foam cradle for the gyro.

I made one so that zip ties hold the cradle and then the cradle has a separate tie system to hold the gyro.

There is no way for vibration to hit my gyro without having to go through foam first.

Have it set up like this on my 450 and my Raptor e550

Part of pushing limits is occaisionally finding them

Lots of reasons why you may be experiencing this problem. Could be a system balance issue or a physical issue when under load.
Perhaps dodgy pot on the 9254 which is effected by vibes
Gyro mounting - try Zeal
Engine running too rich
Tail boom support resonance - try a simple brace
TR pushrod force overpowering the servo - check TR dynamic balance
Check for binding of pitch fork under load
What effect does different gains have ?
Try reducing mechanical gain by moving in a hole
Consider playing with chinese weights to lower the servo loads

wow, loads of answers.
It seems that leaning the engine might be the cause. Mainly as I have tried most else. Too windy again to try!!
i will come back when i have tried some of your great suggestions.
Thank you all for your help.

Motor 4-stroking will pulse the drivetrain out to the blades and the gyro will attempt to correct it. Give up for good? Never.
