Anyone know what size allen wrench I need to tighten the "tiny" set screws that attach the Microheli Metal head stack to the main drive shaft on a CP Pro. I tried 1.5mm and that's too large. I don't have anything smaller and cannot find anything smaller at the LHS or hardware store. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jerry

Do a google search on Whia tools and you will find that they make 1.3mm, .9mm and .7mm hex drivers.

Thanks, John. Just what I needed.

Another sort of related question.

Does anyone know if the hole in the main drive shaft line up with the Microheli set screws?

If the hole and set screws line up, would it make sense to use a small bolt and nut to hold the head and shaft together - like the headstack on my Blade 400?

Thanks, Jerry

Here is the set I bought and sold awhile back. Can't remember where I bought it or the stock number.

Jerry,
I also have a Microheli head. Once you find the proper allen wrench the two little micro-setscrews work fine when seated into the holes in the mainshaft.

Good luck.

I finally found a set of Allen drivers at Frys. Seems the set screw is .9mm. One side of the set screw adjustments is stripped out, but the other side is fine.

Now that I have that in place - another question.

I cannot seem to get the blades to track. Adjusting the lower blade makes it higher than the other blade. No middle ground. Also strange is that other then the blades not tracking (about 1/4 inch apart at full throttle), I don't see a lot of vibration as I would expect. Two possibilities:

1. I have bent main shaft.
2. I have a bent feathering shaft.

I checked the feathering shaft by removing the blades and rotating the bolt on side to see if the other side has a twist. It doesn't.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jerry

Now you know

Okay, Jerry - the secret is out. I was trying to be diplomatic in my earlier post but now you're finding out about the Microheli head.

The trait you describe is exactly what mine was forever doing. You may also find that it jumps up and down and won't hover smoothly. I'm very sorry to be the one to break the news.

It's a work of art that just doesn't work.

Mitchilito,

Thanks for the honest reply. I'd rather know that it is a lost cause than spend hours trying to get it to work properly. I guess I'll go back to the plastic head. Fortunately, I bought the Microheli head on eb_y for a fraction of what it retails for, so I don't feel so bad about it not working.

Again, thanks for your post.

I had the same problem with mine, could never get the blades to track.
Your lucky if you didn't pay full price... $130.00 for a nice looking piece of bling that you can only look at. I'd still like to find something other than the plastic head, anyone have an aluminum head that fits a 3mm main shaft for the BCPP and actually works?

I am happy with the plastic myself but has anyone tried the E-Flite metal head yet?

Only my opinion-- but-- I found the stock plastic head very simple but very effective on the Blade CP and CP pro. I have found that the weak link on the "Blades"is the tail --- not the head. I've seen some incredible "3D" on the stock head but haven't seen much support of any CNC head for the Blade CP or CP pro. Sometimes you gatta leave well enough alone and work on skills-- not bling -- Once again, my opinion only

Well said, Doug.

The plastic head is sloppy as could be - and works great.

BTW - My brushless direct drive tail also works great.

Hi guys, I agree with you about the plastic head, works great even with the plastic swash, thats what I'm using in my latest project and no complaints.Tracks perfectly It's my flying ability or lack of that causes blade grips to break and the main shaft to bend, even with the paper clip mod.Usually,if I have blade grips and bearings,it's back in the air asap and hovering in the livingroom until we get some better weather, very windy and cold up on the mountain. I guess what I'm looking for is something that will hold up better/longer than the plastic and still fly like stock. I've seen someone here with some aluminum parts that look to be made just like the stock plastic parts, maybe Zore? I'll have to look again. Let me know if you have or know someone that has had aluminum head parts that work, other than the swash.

I have the E-Flite metal head.It works as good as the plastic head.Tracks fine.Looks good too! So far it , lacks in the support department, in my opinion............... I have been trying to find an exploded diagram of the metal head for part numbers. The parts are not the same as the plastic head.Diagram in the back of the manual shows parts in plastic head that are not in the metal head.

I finally gave up on the Microheli metal head and went back to the plastic one. I don't think my LHS carries the full metal head for the CPP, but they do have some metal parts - e.g., swashplate, etc.

Is there one or two metal items that are worth replacing on the CPP, like the swashplate?

Jerry, Yes the microheli swashplate is worthwhile. My favorite set-up so far was the stock head, hdx outrunner, telebee gyro, gws DD tail,3x2 prop and the microheliswash. It was the only "bling" on a blade I found to work as good as it looks !!

I've had good luck with the Micro-Heli Swash as well but have not used it because of the guide breaking off but it will go back on if I can fix it our buy a new one.
