Yep ,, that is what comes with the kit ... and nowhere in it does it tell all the dip switch settings ... even with what the other guys have tossed in ,,, dip switch #2 , 6 are not shown , and no one can tell me how to get the wrong way acting collective and elevator setup right ,,, so the bird can't be flown .

I really think that my problem is high end radio frame rate or their resolution not being compatible to the 368 ,, but I have no low end radio to check it out and don't know that much about the electrics of radios.

The Th-2 works great ,,,but the cheap GWS gyros I had laying around don't
I did have to change some of the hook up with the TH-2 ... as there is a difference in the 12 X interface with it ... which probably is the trouble with the 368 from Gaui .

The GWS gyros would start to jitter at any gain setting when you would throttle up ....
I wanted to fly this cute little guy so much that ,,, I even tried to hover it with out any gyros and got it in the air,, but was unable to stay only a few secs before loosing the tail and pitch and had to set it down quick ,,, thank goodness for the Boyd setup / training gear

I foun and put an old arcamax on the elevator and it start to osolate bad after lift off and ended up blades contacting the gyro and stripped the back drive gears .
So Fung will have another order and my crash kit will be on its way ,,which is the only good thing that happened this weekend.
Now I only need to find a couple gyros that will work with the unit

I think the arcamax will work ,,, I just got in a hurry to try hovering it as it was getting late and I started out with almost full gain set in from testing proper direction and all .

The faster I go --- the further behind I get ... is what my Dad use to say and it is oh so true

Hey Guys,

How do you like my new dual wheels for the front of my Gaui Chinook fuselage! Not exactly scale, but a whole lot closer to scale than the single wheels wouldn't you say?

Those sure do look much better than the stock ones ... I also was atleast going to turn the front ones to the out side ,,,which I think would make it look a little better ,,, but didn't try it yet .... just would like to get it flying

Boyd,

Not Yet! I had a perfect day to fly this morning with no wind! I hooked up the battery and tried to power up, but the blades just wiggled back and forth! So, I took it back into the garage and found out the the rear gear for the rear main shaft that comes from the motor is stripped and not letting the shaft turn! So, it looks like I am going to have to wait until my crash kit arrives with the spare gears before I get it back into the air! These things do appear to be a bit frail! I am just making busy work until the parts arrive!

Finally got my new gears and have them in ,,but still haven't found the time to get the new gyros hooked into the Th-2 system yet . After the last quick test booboo .. I am moving a little slower and hope to get it all bench setup right the first time
Hope to see it in the air before the end of this month .
To much work to be done on the house before moving day

Finally got the bird in the air with the TH-2 and futaba 240 gyro's ...
I only had three little hops in to the air before I lost a cross shaft pinion gear mount (they are plastic and pushed on to splines on the shaft and CAed ) which put the blades out of timing and it ate one blade and broke the mounting bolt to another which flew off and that let the bearings fall out ,so they are MIA, along with the spacer .... need 3 weeks more to order parts

It felt good and was very controllable ,,, on the last test hop ,, which only last about 2 mins. and was only 2 foot high in the driveway with hardly no wind ,,,but a little now and then .

#1 The Th-2 works good with this bird ,,, it gave it a nice DCP leveling hover instead of the wandering elevator only pitch control .

#2,,, this bird don't like high RPM's ,, at probably 1700 to 1800 the blades flex and start warping around enough to hit each other and the back bone,, seems that about 1100 or so and increase the pitch is better ( didn't have enough time or anyone to tach it so not sure ,,but lower is better as far as the blades go )

#3 the gyro gain had to be way down to 25 % on the 240's ,,,so they may not be the right ones for this little bird either .

I have spent to much time on this bird and don't even have my normal birds all pmed and flying ,,,, and the new house is suffering too . The " boss "is on my case about that for sure

So this little hook is going in a storage box for next winter

It will then recieve a new backbone and drive shaft set up which will take care of 50 % of the problems that keep popping up every time you touch this bird .

I wish all the luck in the world to those of you that proceed with your kit as is .

Know how you feel Larry having just moved house myself...

Having worked on a tandem the same scale I can tell you that there is no better gyro than the GY240 for this instance and certainly no better mixer then the TH2.

Mechanical problems aside to fly succesfully you will need a high headspead, preferably tip weighted blades, very low pitch, small endpoints and swash settings to give little movement of cyclic, only as much as 6% DCP and you will be getting there.

Sounds like you may be better off using the frames you had cut for my version plus MS composite mechanicals and blades with the body of the Gaui

Ken
Thanks for the help
I do think that the Guai wood blades on their head would be better for this unit . The MS stuff would be to big without cutting it down some ... this little cutie is really small .
The standard blades for this are just molded plastic and are very flexible .
As is the backbone of this hook .
