My Posts This: Topic Forum | Finally got the bird in the air with the TH-2 and futaba 240 gyro's ... I only had three little hops in to the air before I lost a cross shaft pinion gear mount (they are plastic and pushed on to splines on the shaft and CAed ) which put the blades out of timing and it ate one blade and broke the mounting bolt to another which flew off and that let the bearings fall out ,so they are MIA, along with the spacer .... need 3 weeks more to order parts
It felt good and was very controllable ,,, on the last test hop ,, which only last about 2 mins. and was only 2 foot high in the driveway with hardly no wind ,,,but a little now and then .
#1 The Th-2 works good with this bird ,,, it gave it a nice DCP leveling hover instead of the wandering elevator only pitch control .
#2,,, this bird don't like high RPM's ,, at probably 1700 to 1800 the blades flex and start warping around enough to hit each other and the back bone,, seems that about 1100 or so and increase the pitch is better ( didn't have enough time or anyone to tach it so not sure ,,but lower is better as far as the blades go )
#3 the gyro gain had to be way down to 25 % on the 240's ,,,so they may not be the right ones for this little bird either .
I have spent to much time on this bird and don't even have my normal birds all pmed and flying ,,,, and the new house is suffering too . The " boss "is on my case about that for sure
So this little hook is going in a storage box for next winter
It will then recieve a new backbone and drive shaft set up which will take care of 50 % of the problems that keep popping up every time you touch this bird .
I wish all the luck in the world to those of you that proceed with your kit as is .
