Here are the dip switch settings I had when I flew the prototype at IRCHA last year.

Hope this helps.

That helps some ... as it tells me that some need different settings ...but we still need to know what the dip switches control so we can set it up to our particular type and place ment of controls .
I have finally heard from the other guy that promised the paper outlining the dip switch meanings ,,, and he forgot to get it and will get it shortly ,,, so hang in there guys .

My 368 unit came setup for mode 1 not mode 2 ... I would think there is a dip switch to change this (maybe not ) ... it also augmented the collective not the elevator for pitch axis control (probably because of the mode deal going on ) ,,, I would think there is a dipswitch or maybe a pot that needed adjusted to control the amount of DCP (if there is DCP on this 368 gyro ) ,,,

another guy has the back elevator going the wrong way ... I am sure that like the 365 you can turn it around in the 368 ,,he did it manually . He also is having trouble with the servos staying centered when centering them with the TX ... the 365 had a dip switch (3 if I remember right ) to throw off and you could use the pots to center the 3 swash plate servos in the 365 gyro so they stay centered .

*******Without a manual to the 368 we don't know how to set up for the way we have things installed as we are not following the standard Gaui setup (shame on us ,,but that is what modellers do isn't it ,,, you had a mighty fine scale cockpit with windows cutout on the bird as I remember too ) ********.

I , Richard and Boyd have moved the rear elevator servo so it don't stick out the side of the fuselage which makes a nice scale ship look ugly .... we need to make some changes in the gyro for this I am sure .....

Once we get the manual for the dip switche settings we can hopefully get things loaded into the gyro that will help with our different than Gaui setups ,,, so we can get these cute little birds in the air .

I don't know if it would help much but if you send me your email address I can send you the only file I got to use when setting up the prototype at IRCHA. I used my 14MZ and it took a little bit of head scratching and a phone call to Taiwan from IRCHA last year. The phone call didn't help much, just ended up pushing buttons on my TX and then all of the sudden.......GRAVY!! I left the dip switches alone and just plugged everying thing in as described in the instructions....or lack there of........

PM me your email if you wanna keep it private!

That little piece of paper sounds like the one the other guy can't seem to find ....
And probably will help us ... as your dipswitch picture is set way different than the one I ,Richard and Boyd got in our kits .

I have placed the dipswitches in every position sequence that I could come up with and my JR 12 X in many more positions and still couldn't get things to work .

Do you know if you get any DCP (differentail collective pitch ) on this 368 gyro ??? The manual only shows elevator swash plate movement upon moving the elevator stick and that is not what other chinooks do .
email is v22chap@hotmail.com

Thanks

That maybe will help some , as it is more than we got with the kit ,but it still don't tell us what all the dip switches do ... and which one to flip so we can do the centering of the servos.
Thanks for trying though

Guess what came in the mail today . .... also got the updated gears . NO CHARGE .. way to go Flying Hobbies(Fung) and Guai . They maybe a long ways away ,,,but they do have good customer service

It is a new 368 gyro (had several marks on old one to make sure ) .... so I am vindicated on there being a problem with the old one ... and I think the problem was it was just a mode 1 unit .

Hope to have enough time given me by the boss (wife) from the house move .... to get this put in and atleast hooked up to see if it works right .

Lipo Monitor!

Hey Guys,

I just installed a Lipo Battery Monitor with an Audio Buzzer Alarm! It gives you a very bright visual indication of your battery status with different colors as the battery runs down! It will also give you an audio alert when it is time to come down! I have them on all of my electric helicopters and it sure makes flying them a lot more fun when you do not have to worry about when the battery is running out of juice!

Richard

Test Flight!

Larry & Boyd,

Well, I finally got a morning without any wind to test fly my Gaui Chinook! It is very squirrely to say the least! The front head kept wanting to come up first! However, I did manage to get it off the ground about one inch for a couple of seconds! It also wanted to turn to the left a lot while I was applying pitch to get it light on the skids, but then when I put in right rudder trim it tried to turn to the right as it went into the air! Some how one of my blade grip fittings broke, so i am going to need another "A" blade, which hopefully is coming in my free "crash kit" which should arrive next week sometime!! I have moved the battery forward infront of the motor to see if it had too much aft CG! So, as not to ruin a perfect flying morning, I went ahead and flew my Hirobo E-Chinook, which is trimmed up and flys soooo gooood!!

Richard

Great to hear another is in the air ... I am still fighting with the 368 gyro ... now it seems I have collective on the mode 2 stick ,,but also have it on both sticks ... front is now on normal throttle sitck and rear collective on right stick
Maybe it is the 12 X that is confusing this thing I may have to buy a cheap radio just to fly this little bugger .

Larry,

Is it possible that the 'collective pitch' on the second stick is actually DCP with the direction reversed for one head?

I don't remember if you said this controller supports DCP or not --- but if it does, then just check your DCP settings for each rotor head to change the direction of one of them.

If none of that applies, well, you're no worse off, right?

That is what I thought might be the problem .... but according to the manual (what little there is ) only the elevator swash moves for pitch control ( ya ,,pretty lame I thought too ) . And besides now I have DCE .. or when I give forward elevator .. the front swash goes forward the back swash goes back . If I reverse the servos in the TX ... the differential just changes to the other end ,,,but still differential . There is nothing in any manual or reps setup to show a DCP change setting ... nor do any of them talk about DCP .
Only do you have your tx in one servo setting ,,, which is a given for going through anyone's onboard augmenting unit

I thought that maybe there was a dip switch to throw and then dial a pot to give different percentage /or direction of DCP (like you can do to center the servos in this gyro ) ,,, but that don't seem to do anything .

I have moved the dip switches to 20,000 different settings and rotated the dials in different dipswitch settings .
And actually now ,, the rudder side of the gyro ... which was working right ,,,, does not move the servos at all now .

I have spent way to many hours (hours I don't really have right now )trying to get it working and now the rudder has quit doing anything ... I see now why Gaui didn't want this released to the US yet ... They don't know how it works either As neither Fung or Gaui or the US reps can pin point the problem .

Only thing I have different is my 12 X ,,, but that should not be any different that Boyd's DX 7 .

I guess it is time to put in a TH-2 and get this bird flying and give the other guys to come an option to the again poor 368 that only has a 2 in 4 success rate

But thanks for the try Joe

Since I can't get any answer from Gaui as to whether or not their 368 has DCP on it and how to set it up .... and the lack of a working 368 gyro (, after trying 3 new ones and waiting 4 weeks to send the old ones back to get the new ones sent back to me each time !!!! ) or any type of instructions for the gyro !!! .

I am going to proceeding with the installation of my Tech Model Products TH-2 rex chinook mixer board on this little gem to get it flying .The TH- 2 has DCP , a good manual and also a good support system in place for it ,,, Joe is also only a phone call away here in the states and always quick to answer and be of help .
Will keep you posted on how it goes .
Hopefully this will give us who buy this little cutie of a chinook a good reliable mixer that will fly this bird very well .
