I have finally gotten underway with my FBH N9. Here are some pix of it so far. I have pix of a couple pieces that need to be slightly modified.

Frameset as delivered

FBH bearings mounts. Top mount is a double bearing

Block I had trouble figuring out..

Bottom hole needs to be drilled and tapped for 4mm screws. THis is where the boom supports will now mount.
UPDATE, this step is not needed. Use the stock mount for the boom supports and eliminate the x-brace if you desire.

servo mounts installed

Cut needed to be made for pinch bolt as opposed to 4 set crews. This mod helps eliminate runout on the crown gear hub.

Lightened FBH mainshaft installed. Also will need jesus bolt for crown gear and Auto hub.

She is all square up and locktited, ready for the rest of the components..
So far, with the exact same amount of assembly, It is over 1/2lb lighter than stock..

Eventually Yes it will be FBL. As soon as the v4 V-Bar is out. But in the meantime, I am going to fly the PI$$ out of it flybarred..

And a few more pix.

I just wish I could get all the Synergy frame braces and spacers in the same finish the SE parts come in. I tried easy off on a spare brace, but the anodizing is so solid it didnt even fade it..

Pretty cool, the pinch mod is a good idea. Do you think it will be better in the long run over the stock 4 bolts system? Was that a mod required for a different main shaft?

I am not familiar with the FBH products.

That I dont know. The theory is helps eliminate the run-out from the crown hub. But with the FBH mainshaft, it fits soooo tight, I dont see how there could be any. This mod was on recommendation by T Bonta.

Yes, the mainshaft now only has one hole through it with no threads. So the pinch bolt was a must.

So are you saying that that the FBH shaft is a tad larger than the stock one?

Will the FBH shaft work with the stock AF?

Maybe, the shaft that came off the bird was pretty worn so it might just be the new shaft. But it is snug.

yup, and so will the mainshaft blocks. I really like the two bearings on the top mount.

The FBH frame kit is a direct replacement for the stock frame. Its just been reconfigured a bit. Better, stronger, faster.. oops I am getting carried away a little bit..

Most of their components will fit the stock airframe. But if you get the mainshaft, watchout, they have 2 different ones available. 1 is standard lenght and the other is designed for the FBH FBL Head. Which BTW is going on this.

The rest of the build is standard Synergy build so I wont do pix of it. But when I "git 'er done" this weekend, I will post some more and post all up weight.

May or may not be an option for you: My understanding is that the clear anodized cross braces (and, therefore the frame itself) for the N5 will be the same width as the N9's. Unfortunately for your needs, the length will be different. If you don't mind drilling additional holes, you could definitely use those in a few weeks or so.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHHH, I am drooling already. Dont mind drilling holes at all. Smaller means lighter weight, that is if they are shorter. I wonder if they will throw the CG off.

Anyone have info on the Boto-mixers? They look similar to the Kasama mixers, just shorter.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it's my understanding that the closer the short link is to the grip screw the slower cyclic response gets.

Didn't even realize. His pics don't show the cross braces, and I don't think there are that many other pics of the N5. I guess you can get an idea of what they look like from the see-through CAD pics. Look at the top rear brace and imagine it in aluminum like the rest of the CnC stuff....

Go here:

Even more SE silver = what about the N5's rear canopy mounts? Though I have no idea of the standoff's length.

Yes but the bell side of the mixer (long link from swash) looks to be closer to the grip screw than the stock mixer. The pilot control would be higher than the stability from the flybar.
