My Posts This: Topic Forum | Hi Every one Will just like to explain our approach on how did we think we are now ready for releasing the ESC. The first prototype was developed and run in August 2006, originally was a 10S controller, many was send to our sponsor pilots and with the feedback we got we decided to change it to a 12S controller, first 12S prototype was made in mid of 2007, first was tested on plane, we then decided to change the 4 layer PCB to a 6 layer pcb to have more copper in it to reduce the internal resistance, ,any change was made to the firmware, in early 2008 we changed the PCB design to 8 layer to reduce the IR again, started testing it on Helis and realize the governor was not up to the task, firmware changed over 300 times in the last 12 months, the component we used has changed as well many time. So far we have over a 150 ESC that has been manufactured and tested by helis and plane pilots, including myself, I fly with them for over 2 years now on my planes and helis, out of the 150 plus in testing, a few did burn up and issue that we can find has been corrected.
All the ESC that we ship are fully tested during and after the manufacturing, when the ESC leave the production for packaging, they have been tested at full load for 3 minutes, 110% load until the protection kick in and start to limit the output, making sure that the over currents protection is working, but even doing all this to make sure the ESC is working right we still occasionally see results like c54fun have experienced.
What we will do for the HV series is run them at the QC testing stage for 5 minutes, and then test it again for 3 minutes to make sure if something was going to fail but did not, will fail on the second test.
The Scorpion 50V series of ESC is new to the market, but it’s a products that has been tested by pilots for over 2 years, and if anyone has a problem with the ESC, it will be replace or if the person decide he do not want to use the ESC again, I will make sure he gets a full refund.
Happy landing. Georges |
