I would replace those deans they come with the genuine deans ultra.

They dont fit properly, too tight. and eventually they fail and you have to auto.

Oh thats right, if you lose power on the 500e you cant even do that you just have to watch it crash.

If your HK packs came with Deans copies, they're probably older stock. Deans sued them for patent infringement and HK had to stop selling the connectors.

I'm using Turnigy (newer brand of flightmax from hobby city) 6S 2650 20C. I broke them in with a 1C charge, 3C discharge for 3 cycles, did two hovering cycles and then started my normal flying routines on my trex 500 and logo 400.
The first discharge yielded almost exactly 2650 mah, but that may have picked up a bit after the storage chemistry burned off.

First real flight they sagged a bit and i noticed some power loss, but after one real cycle in the heli they picked up and feel very similar to my xps 30C lipos. (the xps have about 35 cycles). I currently have rougly 8 cycles on each turnigy and i'm very happy so far, balance good, charge at 2C at the field, 1C at home and they seem to be holding up fine, no puffing, etc.

Not to bad for $35

For reference, i fly mostly 3D mixed with sport and power moves. My average discharge is 26 amps with peaks to about 65 amps. I'm currently running these 5 minutes though i think i could bump it to 6 as long as i'm not really slamming the heli around extra hard that day. I'm trying to get better at collective management which is increasing my flight times.

I had good luck with the zippy 2650 packs also. For the price of the batteries you can buy three zippy batteries to one of the other brands.Even if you get one crappy zippy Batt.Your still ahead of the game. PRAZTEK. As for your throttle curves and pinion. If your using the stock motor Im using the 13 tooth pinion and my throttle curves are Normal 0,60,80,90,100 Then for my idle ups 1 and 2 I just use 100% flat. Make sure you program the ESC first at 0,25,50,75,100. Then adjust your throttle curve. The 500 likes high head speed. Even with my throttle curves in normal. I still get a little wobble Because of low rpm. You will get a lot of different opinions on throttle curves on here. Just pick one that fits your flying style.

I just got the 2650's 30c's in the mail, what would be the suggested initial charge?

I know in the future it will be.

1C charge rates.

2000 mah 2 amps, which would equal around 2.5.

Try it at 2.65 first. If you have a problem and it faults then charge it at .5 while using balance connector. Basicly your drawing out almost as much as your charging it could take up to two hours but you should not have a problem after doing it one time. Then just charge them at the normal 2.65 rate. First flights or charges it could be shorter flight times but it will pick up.
