Hi There,
I have an issue with my trex 600 nsp. Just built.
As I bring the RPM up i get a tail shudder. Not rhythmic like with a tail wag ( I have seen wag caused by gyro issues on my raptor.
This is different. Every 2-3 seconds i get a shudder through the tail.
Engine seems to be running sweet. Has had three/four tanks through it.
Have managed to get airbourne half a dozen times but this shake makes me want to land!
ANy help out there?
Everything SEEMS tight. Was set up as per manual. This is my third build. Trex 450 and raptor 30 before this.....so not completly green.
Help!

Running with a 401 gyro, 9254 servo, t7c futaba tx.

if the engine is running even a LITTLE rich, it can be a bit inconsistent...even though you may think it sounds fine. the inconsistency with the motor will shake the tail a bit.

try leaning out the motor one or two clicks at a time.

I've never had a tail issue do to rich setting but that's not to say it doesn't happen. However, I've had the tail doing strange things before if its running too lean. Could very well be your problem.

ALSO the tail servo could be twiching due to interference you running a night setup or anything? make sure gyro and tail servo wires are away from anything that causes too much interfernce like bec's esc's night wire or anything like that also could be a reciever problem if its not the engine

To the question....

I fly EP and not nitro but I've had that shudder.
First I added a little gyro gain.That helped.
Then I increased the head speed and it smoothed it out.

The gyro gain doesn't change anything. It gets low enough that the tail starts to drift, but the shudder doesn't go away. This problem comes up when the engine starts singing, and the heli lifts off. The shudder is also present when the heli is in FF.

Is the motor new?If not check the rear bearing.Sounds like a vibration somewhere.If its new (the motor) and still breaking in that could be a problem too,a rich running motor can cause a tail twitch.once you get another 2 tanks through it,turn the main needle in 1-2 clicks.

So I would not consider his comment elitist at all. Seems he was just trying to save himself more repetitive typing.

In order to provide an overall positive response here to the question. I think that jgheli would probably have been better served, if he would have worded his post in this manner (as multiple posts in different forums, on the same site, is really not considered proper etiquette:

Could also be a binding bearing problem, e.g. a bad rear motor bearing, or a bad bearing in the tail rotor system.

Seeing that the question was asked more than six months ago,,,What page was it on?

I didn't notice the date on the post so I didn't know that the question had faded away a half year ago.
That's why I thought that one reply was so rude.
The post he was referring to is long gone but it was there the day he made the post.

Anyway...I'm sure it's worked out so,what's it matter anyway?
