I flew a 3D for a year and never replaced anything that wasn't damaged in a crash. I couldn't believe after a year the links had no slop. It truely is the most underrated heli out there.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		yep, the k3d is definately under-rated and not carried by a lot of shops, hopefully that will change. if not i don't mind driving for parts or ordering on-line....the knight is worth it my goal is to get 2 up and running and have a good stock-pile of spare parts.....but like mentioned earlier i have'nt found any wear and tear yet, the only loose links so far have been throttle and rudder which is common on any heli.

Art, yeah move those ball-links in 1 hole on the servo horns, should be 11mm from center....you can also move the ball on the mixing arms out to tone it down too....if that's not enough there's always expo

If you want to tone it down a bit around center and are flying JR/Spektrum, try activating "Swash Expo" in the Swashplate Menu.

Although this does not serve the same function as cyclic expo (it is intended to help eliminate CCPM interaction by compensating for the increase in the linear output to the pushrods to the swashplate when the servos are close to center), it will still make things a bit milder.

Collective and cyclic throws will have to be re-adjusted a bit after invoking this feature.

Are you guys running any differential on the Tail bell crank on the front tail servo conversion? Mine is setup linear but seems way fast on the tail ...
Maybe Its just me not being use to a hot setup heli.....

I must say that is is much more responsive then any other heli I have .
It flys more like a 450 then a 6oo. ....very quick on cyclic response
I will need to dial in more Expo for sure....

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I am *so* tempted to get a K3D kit and rip the setup out of my T600N. I got my first taste of the Compass Koolaid with my Atom 500. The only thing holding me back is local parts availability. It's just so nice to be able to run over to my LHS Saturday afternoon after a crash or other issue and be back in the air on Sunday.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		So buy the Knight 50 3D and keep the Trex 600N on the shelf. If you crash on Saturday, go home and swap everything over to the Trex 600N and go flying Sunday. When you get parts for the Knight 50, swappem back .

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		It's always a wise decision to stock on parts. Your best bet is to stock one whole kit. After a crash, get what you need from the spare kit and order them at the same time. When the parts arrives, toss them inside the spare kit.

Also, you mentioned that local parts availability is the only reason holding you back so I suppose money is not an object - get two fully running K3Ds.

Then I order parts to repair the doner. Harder to do with the more expensive models some times though. But it is worth it if you want to keep in the air as much as possible. Only other way is to NOT CRASH! Yeah Right!

I wouldn't say that. $450 vs. $900 is a big difference. I could probably swing the $450 plus shipping, but that's only by gutting my 600N and probably selling it.

No offense sir, you mean "donor" heli. I was confused at first. There's a way to lessen the crash, speaking of which. I don't do any manuever which I can't do on the sim perfectly. That would result to a pilot error crash if ever. 2nd, I spend plenty of time on pre-flight and post-flight check. At least, it would lessen the mechanical failure crash. Although there's the 3rd reason for crashing which is beyond our control - the quality control.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I've never kept a 2nd kit for spares. There are alot of parts that you will not need in 99% of crashes. Stuff like the head block, engine mounts, etc... When I only flew one 3D I would keep booms, skid mounts, main shafts, spindles, flybars, skids, and boom supports. Add a tail hub, tail shaft, bottom plate and you are covered for most crashes. Also keep in mind some parts from other helis can be used. Most use the Trex 600 boom supports and 440mm flybar. I also use the Vibe 50 skids but others use the 600n skids. A Sceadu 50 spindle can also be used if you can't find a stock one. Don't let parts availability keep you from trying a 3D. It's the best flying 50 out there and holds up very well in a crash.

Very well said. I could have said the same thing. I only had to replace my belt after 135 flights on the 8th crash. That's because the boom split in two and the belt rubbed against the sharp edges on the way home. I never replaced any part yet from the swash upto the main grips to date. The links are still tight as they were on the first flight. The greatest news is, parts are darn cheap. You get waaaaaay more than what you paid for.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		If it happens, it won't be for another couple of months. My next priority is a night rig for my Atom. I do have a bite from someone who may be interested in buying my 600N airframe, but even if he did decide to buy it, I wouldn't get the funds from him until after the Knight was ready to fly.

One concern I have about the Knight is the comparative lack of space for mounting electronics. This is one area where the 600N shines. I would like to move my Multigov (pre-Pro), CarbSmart, and AR7000 over and add a different regulator (it's a good opportunity to replace my Align 2-in-1) and a Switchglow (or the new channel-controlled glow ignitor whose name escapes me at the moment). Are there any third party electronics frames for the Knight or do I need to rig up one myself?
