I just put a Knight 3D on a doctors scale and it weighed in with a full tank of fuel at 7.1 lbs......next was my N600 with a full tank of fuel and it weighed in at 8.2 lbs.....I think thats about a 15% differance in weight.......I was impressed with the numbers. Any body else have numbers to back this up?

I have a Trex 600 superpro and two Knights 3D. The Trex is a good flying machine, but the Knights loops and rolls tighter than the Trex. The 3D ability of the Knight is awsome.

For the money that a Knight costs and parts cost the knight is the clear winner in my opinion.

Just my 2 cents.

If you not breaking it your not trying hard enough

After watching you beat that poor heli into submission, I am afraid to fly mine.....I have never seen a 50 heli fly like that before and I have seen a lot of helis fly. I would put it in a class with a 90 after what I saw last weekend. I just waiting for good weather.....
gonna maiden mine this week......

Personally I feel the 600N flies lighter and has a tad more POP but the Knight flies WAY more precisely. The more I fly the 3D the harder it is to go back to the 600N and enjoy it... The workload on the pilot is just much higher on the 600N.

I have both and really like the Knight 3D over my 600.. Performs much lighter and settles right in and tracks like an arrow when you want it to. It is my most like 50 sized.. Matter of fact I sold one of my 600's because of it.

+1 on Knight 3D over Trex 600

Now you really want a surprise fly the Knight E on 8s and tell me what you think

Food for thought

I am in the middle of deciding what 600 to get, a align 600n or JRX Xtreme 50? The night is looking very good right now....

The 600 is a great Heli, no doubt. I am sure you know all of its merits by now.

The K3D is a very rewarding Heli however. I had a good mate of mine say it makes my flying look better! I don't doubt that. The way it tracks is unreal, it is a point and shoot heli. The build is more involved than the 600 and every Heli has its weaknesses but the K3D should be near the top of anyone's 50 'list of contenders' IMHO.

Incidentally I had a good ogle of the first Vibe 50 in NZ today. Very nice looking heli but obviously big $$ and it looks beefy and complex to me. In big air maneuvers I am sure it rocks and that canopy is SEXY but I doubt it will be the 3D machine the K3D is...

I would suggest you first try someone else's helis before spending some serious $$$. It would be much better if both helis are owned by only one person so as it has both locked in feel by only one pilot.

As far as the collective pop on the 600n. It was explained on one of the other forums by Ash (of Trex Tuning). As he explained it the Align head has a non-linear pitch setup which gives it the collective pop. I don't recall the exact explanation but it can be found on HF in the Outrage G5 forum I believe.

I flew the 3D for about a year but switched to the Vibe 50 last summer. I just picked up 3 used 3D airframes and will be going back to the 3D. I just like the way they fly and I know from vast experience that they crash very well.

Artimus,

Can you post your setup? I'm curious how you got your 3D so light. That would make it roughly 6 pounds dry and mine were all right at 7.5 pounds dry.

To me, the Knight 3D is much, much more agile than the Trex 600N. Both are very good machines.

The other thing that no one seems to mention, is that the Knight/Compass models do not seem to wear out.

I have changed only about six ball links on my Knights in the last two years or so (on rudder and throttle-the gyro and the governor work these hard).

I have about 10 gallons through the Knight Pro, and about six through the Knight 3D.

7.1 with a full tank ? How did you do that

Mine are the lightest 50 machines I have owned at 7.5 dry with full metal tail, head ,3rd bb ,metal frame kit, and carbon frames also flybarless. My other non-flybarless are just a few OZ more

All that rigidity at that weight + flybarless = sex
I do not want to fly another bird i own even my 90's

Having flown both and setting up a 600N for a month trying to get it to fly like the 3D and giving up. The 600N is stable and smooth it is some peoples perfect heli. I think guys trying 3D with it are making it do 3D where the knight just was built for it in the design and geometrys.

End of last year we picked up a vibe and I think that falls dead in the middle. Again some peoples perfect heli. I also still prefer the 3D and especialy the parts cost Horizon is going price crazy.. Vibes are for sale everywhere.

The bottom line is the knight by design flips and rolls tight the tail power is fantastic and I think in the last release form it is bug free and mainenance free.

I have not been thrilled with the distributor hopping and how buzz then rodney got treated but I do love the heli.

Next heli to try is the TZ frenzy. In the box at 220.00 it is impresive but first reports are it flys good for the price but not fantastic

Thats what the scale said , and I took photos of it .I will give Dale a call and get the photos up on the scale posted. Mine is Box Stock except for the front tail servo conversion. I even zeroed out the scale to make sure....I was suprized at the weight of it. I knew it felt lighter the the N600 .
I will post the photos when I get them....but today I am going flying.
Really the first time in a month since I moved.....I am Packing up and heading out....The sky is blue ,the wind is light and its the warmest day we have had in along time....I headed to the field for the maiden flight of the Knight 3D...

Oh precisely right on! My other heli had huge slop on the mixing arm just after 14 flights - considering a metal mixing arm - and I mean really huge slop! My Knight3D has more than 100 flights and the mixing arm is still good as new, believe it or not. Nuf said.
