As you can see on a previous post, I have a TTAS355 with the aerodyne head, while others swear on the use of stabilizing gyros, I can personally tell you that at least on this head with the Century FG 600MM blades I feel no need for them, Heli flies perfectly and balanced, will hover rock solid, yet it's no flybarred heli, flies somewhat differently, something I tell you is even more important than the gyros is constant rotor speed, for that reason I always use governors on my multibladed heads, fortunately, so far have found no need for the gyros. The governor will help ensure you do not have phasing issues.
Gyros will help in two areas: phasing and sensitivity to wind gusts, sensitivity you can learn to correct if not severe and will vary with set-up (blade aerodynamics/head/rpm combination) and the weight of the machine, the governor will take care of the phasing...
If you ask me, when not using gyros you feel like you are flying the real thing |
