This is the unit that is slipping

I am on my second one now in < 10 flights

I guess I'll do a teardown to find out what is going on
then I'll clean it out and relube it with tranny fluid as FP suggested

for something like that, i like to use Brake cleaner, its really effective at flushing out all the little area's you normally cant get at.

but i have seen other threads on here where people were having problems with one way bearings, but it was fixed using tranny fluid.

Thanks for the suggetions FP.
I took it apart there was no apparent damage or wear so I cleaned with Brake clean and relubed it with tranny fluid.

I'll find out next time I fly it

Not sure exactly what happened to it it was ok then I put it on charge and when I came to use the screen displayed " BACKUP ERROR" with a loud beep.

waited a week for good weather, then I get sick for a week, now my TX is sick, hopefully by May I will be flying again.

Well I finally got my TX back a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately I had to reprogram everything on the + side it only cost me the postage to send it in
Great service got a new antenna and fuse and a recalibrated TX

I did manage to fly the Hawk for 4 tanks before it started to act up again
That is when I noticed the clutch was still partly engaged at idle

Is there a cure for a sticky clutch ?

LOL
I was thinking a Hotstart would help cure it but !
Maybe I'll just hold the head and rev it up little to help it seat properly

Oneway bearing locking up

My Hawk is running well BUT
The oneway way bearing on the intermediate gears on my Raven locked up !
And my K50 the One way bearing on the intermediate gears is slipping

3 different machines and they have the same problem

The oneway bearing is crap IMO

I may have to change back to the Hawk stock configuration

What is it with their One way bearing ??

2 of 3 CNC fans failed
now another 2 out of 3 bearings but the lower intermediate oneway.

WTF is going on ?????

Sorry for rant

Mine locked up on me over the weekend

I took the frame apart to get to the bearing and cleaned it out with pure methanol, then re-lubed it with dura lube still have to ring out the machine and do a few autos to see if it hold up.

Will let you know if it hold up. I also heard tranny fluid works good after a cleaning. I will try that next if the dura lube dont cure the problem.

Cheers,
Raven

I wonder how many out there don't know their oneway bearing is locked up ?
with your blade holder on you should be able to turn the grey gear in one direction freely if not it is locked up!

even if it is locked up it will only cut a few secs of your auto
Tranny fluid seems to work though after a thorough cleaning.

^ This is if your lucky
if your unlucky like me, I had 2 of 3 seperate units slip free and cause a couple of suprise auto's

Would Century waranty this part ?

Is there an aftermarket available ?

Anyone got any info on replacements?

I too wonder if there is any upgrade for this??

Mine locked up on me AGAIN! This time I'm going to clean it out and use synthetic tranny fluid and see if it works good with that.

Funny...was out flying with others that have the original raven and when mine locked up I was talking about it (complaining) he said "I never had a problem with mine" and I said wow, have you checked it?? He said "well lets take a look"...sure enough he discovered it was locked up the hole time!

Like BM said check your one-way...Hope the clean out and tranny fluid works out.

Cheers,
Raven

Ditto here - and literally 1000's of autos over the past few years. And there are a number of others here flying them and no such issues. So maybe it would be worth trying to find the cause.

I know the first one I had was installed on an old Falcon and was different then the ones we have now. I believe it was designed for the lower power of the OS32 and 46's on the short blades we used back then and still resides in the heli that I sold to a club mate years ago. A year later, I got one for my Hawk Pro which was different (it had a larger one-way bearing), which was the same as the one in my then new Raven V2.

What versions are you guys using in yours? What power system? What blades?

Maybe the cause is one or both of the support bearings of the primary shaft or mainshaft are worn and lock up momentarily causing strain on the one-way drive bearing.
