Okay , I figured out a way to have a bottom canopy mount on the twinring frames. Very solid and light.

Hi Jimbo, I notice the lower mount has a nylock nut, isn't that a bit of fiddling around to change the battery. How about drilling a hole through the bolt and using a spring clip like they use on rc car bodys and glue a nice washer to the canopy so it will not ware it away. You could also use a grommet in the canopy instead even better, Just a thought
Also what advantages do you get from those Twinring frames Jimbo????

that is a good idea clive. Thanks!
The twinring frame puts the battery in line with the boom and motor and all the electronics. I have`nt flown it yet , but it should roll better and do inverted flight way way better!!

I just found out that a G10 frame kit from Rotorworkz was included so I might use that and keep the EX metal frame as a spare.

Hmmmm, 1st hitch.
I just did a basic assembly of the frame, mounted a battery, and checked to see if the canopy fits.
No way
I dummy mounted the motor, pushed the battery all the way back.
This is the glass canopy, and 6s 2500 packs.
Im going to have to use a new canopy and drill mounting holes much further back so it fits.
Sure gald I dont have 3000 packs

Now Im not knocking Twinring by any means, he is a great guy.
The chassis quality is very high, looks great too.
But even after I do the canopy, to me its going to be hanging out the front a fair bit.

Jimbo
How is the CG on yours now that its all built?
Is it nose heavy at all?

Constructive critisism here, that is all it is.
2 thumbs up to you Twinring for even bothering to make somthing that should always have been designed this way, AND for making enough so others could have a play with them too

Cheers

Here is my twinring frame with a 6s1p 3000mah 25C Outrage. Balances perfect and fits the glass canopy good, a little tight , but good.
This is with all the electronics installed except the AR6200 R/X I am going to use. It will go in the back part of the frames by the gyro..

She flies!!! I got it flying today. Just setting everything up , so doing basic figure 8`s and just easing around getting it set up.
The heli weighs in at 1833 grams with the Outrage 6s1p 3000mah 25C battery and no canopy on it. My other EP 8 EX weighs 2035 grams.
The twinring heli feels so much lighter in flight. It amazes me how 202 grams make the heli fly so much better. I know this frame is a winner!! The way the heli felt in certain attitudes. I know that when I can get it inverted it will fly like no other EP8 ever did.
When I was setting the tail up on the bench , the servo stopped working and then started working again. There is some kind of short in it so I am going to have to wait to get a new tail servo before I fly it again. Right now times are real hard financialy and I can not afford a new tail servo so I will have to wait a few weeks.
You did an AWSOME job on this frame set twinring . This is what the EP8 has been needing since the beginning; a good place to put the battery and a carbon frame. Maybe you need to go to work for Quick of Japan and Iyobe designing helis for him. You have what it takes twinring!! Thanks for taking the time and effort and finances to bring about these frames . I know that you made these frames for the love of the QoJ EP8`s and not the money . You are one of the die-hard Quick of Japan people twinring!! THANKS!!

Welcome to Quick of Japan husa58...
The Sportsman version is okay , but the Expert is a much better heli. The EX has 8mm main shaft and 5mm tail; the Sp has 6mm main and 4mm tail. The SP has a max headspeed of 2500RPM`s, anything higher and the 6mm shaft will fail and the heli will explode.
What size batteries are you planning on using ?

husa58, you might go to www.medusa.com and look at their specs. The 3000mah makes sense.

Twinring when was the EX originally released?
