Thanks for the great pictures.
I'm clueless about flybarless. In your pictures I still see what look like shortened mixer arms and washout assy are still present. What do they do ?

They make the swash spin. Other wise the swash would go out of phase and ruin your links.

GyroFreak, that is the swash driver or follower. Like STR8HUCKIN says, it keeps the inner race of the swashplate in phase with the rotor head, basically doing the same job as the phasing pins in a regular flybarred head setup. Without it, the heli would be pretty much uncontrollable.

I was able to do a little more work on this machine last night. Some people had asked me how I did the boom supports on my original 620, so I thought I'd share here.

Measure out a few mm from the base of the boom support end and wrap some masking tape around the support.

Remove the end and rough up the boom supports with some sand paper. Make sure you clean off the sanded portion of boom supports and the inside of the support ends before the next step.

Apply a thick bead of JB Weld around and near the VERY EDGE of the support and reinstall the end while making sure you line up the screw holes. I didn't take a pic of this step but the excess JB Weld will collect at the base of the support end. Using a toothpick, you will have to push the excess down and around the support just until it contacts the masking tape. The JB Weld will settle and smooth out on it's own. At this point install the screws, remove the tape and let the joints dry. You should get something like this.

24 hours later...walla, the perfect JB Weld joint. These joints will NOT fail under extreme abuse.

Thanks for the explanation of the swash driver. Beautiful job on the push rod ends. I'm extending my boom on my razor 600E and will do just as you have shown. Great pictures.

Thanks guys, I've got a bunch more pics I still need to upload.

Ron, I'm pretty much done with the build, just have a few little details I need to sort out. Not much longer...

Sorry for the delay. I've hardly been able to even touch this machine for the last month, but I WILL be getting around to finishing it in the next week or two. Here is where I left off, will upload the rest of the pics in the next couple days:

Am I ever humbled now.

I have had a Sokum flybarless setup on my T-Rex 450 for a while now and I like it well enough that I just ordered a second one for my Swift.

The humble part is that my Swift is a light, all plastic, 4S machine that has never done a tick-tock in its life (nor is it likely to).

^ tic tocs on 4S...indeed unlikely...5S is also a strecht.

To Al Austria...FWIW...my experience with these boom support braces since their debut is that they ALWAYS break at the eye. Never had a rod nor the ends break any other way, so far.

By adding an O ring between it and where they attach instead, this cushions and give the eye a tiny room of stress relief prior to breakage.

Perhaps not a bad idea if going to CNC version as the breaking point will travel to the rod instead.

I'll keep an eye out. The boom supports on my first 620 were put together exactly like the ones above, and they finally broke after 250 flights and 3 crashes. After the last crash, it wasn't actually the ends that failed, but rather the blades slicing through the supports/boom after planting the machine tail first.

This machine took longer than expected, but finally here is the flybarless Swift 620SE in flight. I didn't do anything really crazy as I'm still tweaking the SK360 but it wasn't doing so bad for it's 3rd flight. The machine was loading up more than I'd like in the video, but I think my packs are just going out. I also think my pitch arm ratio is a little on the high side.

The final setup was as follows:
Swift 620SE kit
CNLR1016A Stainless ball standoff on pitch arms
CN2353 Flybarless follower
CN2236 CNC tail grips
CNE612 Heavy duty landing skids
Heavy duty Predator ball links on pitch rods
Skookum SK360
JR DS8717's on cyclic running 8V
Inertia 860 gyro/Futaba S9256 on tail
Spektrum regulator for tail servo
Scorpion 4020-1100 with 10t pinion
CC110 HV ESC in High Governor mode(set to 2300 RPM in Idle-Up 2)
TP 2S 900 mAh Pro-Lite V2 flight pack
Outrage 6S 5000 pack
RotorTech 550mm mains and 85mm tails

Let me know what you think!

Al, nice job and most excellent flying. My setup is basically the same as yours, except with the plastic 16 frame. I'm having some difficulty understanding how to take full advantage of the various settings in the Sk360. I have the remote gain control set up on a 3-position aux 2 switch. Any tips?

Al Austria, What is the flying weight of that setup? I have a heavily blinged Swift 16 with the Scorpion 4025-1100 and 10 T pinion and RT 560's, 84.5 tailblades. I can't keep up with it myself. 6S4900 Zippy Rhino's.Insane power.2300 + rpm fresh pack. Not flybarless though. Twitchy as a M-F@#@#!. Only needs faster cyclic servos to be a completely crazy bird.

Should've bought a sim. Got a bucket of used blades!
