umm bens video looked very obvious that the engine cut out. you can see the blades slowing down and the smoke disappearing. It had almost no head speed, or was that him cutting the engine because of loss of control?

Looked to me like Ben's machine was stuck in a roll like the aileron servo went. The engine cutting out I am sure was him putting it into hold to minimize damage. It is something you should always practice.

and these pro's start to incorporate it in their moves

that tail wagging stuff is ON PURPOSE???I dont get it

but that was some really great flying

but I have also noticed the "crack" thing seems to be dying a really fast death, dont really see anyone doing it anymore.last year if you weren't doing "crackrolls" you weren't flying

Those 8717's have a 3 year warranty don't they? Too bad the flight was going well.

I never really got the attraction of 'crack' additions to traditional maneuvers, but I suspect it came about mostly because the great new crack-fast servos we started enjoying the last few years inspired the urge to show 'em off a bit.

Now several manufacturers are making them and lots of pilots have 'em, so maybe now there's drop in the 'surge' of that 'urge' to show them off.

Smooth is where it's at in my book (and most other's too it seems), no matter how complex or frenetic the maneuver being performed happens to be.

smooth is DEFINATELY where its atnever really "got" the crack thing myself, but to each his own,its all good

but I feel bad for all the guys who ran out and bought 150-200 dollar servos to do crack moves and no one is doing them now

maybe next year we will be seeing "crystal meth" rolls?

Never liked the "crackroll stuff" but Jamie's "shakey tail/airtrout" thing is kind of unique. I get teased about my helis doing the same thing with CSM gyros, just wish I could make it look as good as Jamie does.

They definitely have real value aside from their crack capabilities. Take for example the fast stick-to-servo feel guys aim for when they choose a fast tx: Crack-fast servos only add even more to that tight, connected feel.

Crack-fast servos make even smooth flying 'feel' better.

Jamie's "shakey tail/airtrout" thing is kind of unique.

Looks cool. I'm wondering if he is actually shaking the tail or kicking back and forth on the mode switch to get the gyro to naturally wag. It would be funny if this is the new thing and all the pilots start doing it.. LoL.
