I fly pod and booms right now. I worked and crewed on Chinooks in the ARMY back in the 70s. They were Super Cs. Because I'm getting older, it is easier see big things as opposed to smaller and I would like to build a large Chinook.

What is the biggest Chinook anyone has modeled? What scale? How heavy are some of the Varios ready to fly?

Most of us fly hirobo Chinooks which are incredible machines but would not be considered a large scale machine. The beauty of this machine is that you can run it nitro or convert to electric for a reasonable cost and it flies well either way.

The Vario is slightly larger but as I understand it, they sell you the fuselage and you have to build your own mechanics which can be a bit challenging to say the least.

The biggest Tandem I've seen is approximately 10 feet in length made by a man named Ayal from Israel. I think he is a member here and he built a scratch model that I think lifts upwards of 25 pounds. There are several pictures floating around on runryder and I believe further down in this forum but I haven't seen a post from him in over a year here.

Actually, I found some more info. His name is Eyal and he built a CH-113 Labrador.

Some info on him is found here:

I bought mine in 2006 I think from MTA hobbies.

I dealt with Rosie who answers the phone most of the time. She has some deal directly with MRC and was able to get me a really good price. She had it drop shipped in about 2 days from New Jersey for me. I think I paid low $2000's (maybe 2300 or 2400 but I can't recall for sure) with a painted body and the normal MSRP was a bit over $3000 at the time.

Hi

My Vario Chinook mechancs are approx 10 to 11 kg now, still need to build it in the fuselage. At this moment I am flying (read hovering) like that. Build the thing from scratch. Alu from the DIY shop. Engine from an RC car. etc etc. The only things I purchased brand new is the Helitronix multimixer from Joel Rosenzweig. The rest. Ebay , trading......
If there is any data or pictures you need please let me know.

Regards

Leon

Isaac Newton was right but why does he need reconfirmation.
