Hey guys I have been noticing lately that the electric motor on my chinook seems to be really warm when I am done with a flight. It is warm enough that you can't hold your hand on it. I will get a temp reading on my next flight but is anyone elses motors doing this? Is it something to be concerned about or is it normal?

Hi Dan,

Mine gets hot as well, which is not surprising as we are running a little more voltage than it is rated for! However, I have not had any problems with mine! No discoloring or hot smell! So, I guess it is alright! How is your flight training going?

Richard

Hey Richard, good to hear from you and thanks for the info. I feel better flying knowing that. As for the flight training I had to come out of sere 5 days before graduating due to an illnes. I go back on the 16th and have to start it over from the beginning booooooh. But when I come out the other end we will be starting to fly finally on April 14th. So finally we are getting to the good stuff. Hope all is well with you buddy.

Mine gets hot too, we are running them 1 cell more then recomended. I took temp readings and they are within reason although approach and slightly exceed max recomended temps. I have about 60-70 12 minute flights on mine and no known problems so far.

Thanks for the info I really appreciate the info as I am trying to make sure everything is good. After fixing the problem of the front main shaft pulling down I want to make sure I don't have any more incidents. I just fixed the damage I had to the fuse and have dont my first test flights with the fuse back on. Everything seems to be going well. I haven't painted the blades yet but will soon. I am using the swift blades right now as they are really inexpensive but I will probably be looking for some other blades as these are just to light and make the heli a bit twitchy in any kind of wind. Here are some photos from my test flight.
