I see you back at it Peter. Nice job on the frames.
I finally finished my canopy. After three tries she looks good.
I am waiting for the machinist to finish my shaft then back on the field before my holidays run out.

Hay up mate, that canopy looks the business and I’m envious, those skids look different is they sprung loaded?

Life’s one big holiday or so I'm told

can you let us know where your cg ends up ?

well as it stands now its slightly nose heavy but the base still needs trimming down , there’s plenty of room above the tank for the battery so it should be doable

Yes they are. They are from X-gear I have to find the link for you.

Cheers Bill I would like to learn more about those.

700 G Nearly finished
Well I’m just waiting for the bell to be made then fit the rest of the electrics, acquire some blades then the 700 gasser is ready to go, I updated the Align clutch block with a Micro Heli triple bearing block some time ago but I’ve just changed it for the Geforce adjustable block, having adjustment is good on a conversion but the best part about it is you can remove it without splitting or parting the frames becuse it hasnt got the locating lugs the others have

Paint Job
I’m useless at design work so anyone fancy doing a design for the canopy so I can get it painted, a simple colour schema with the word Gasser on it would be fine or if you really want to give it your best shot I will consider anything that relates to the 700 Gasser

Nice work Peter. I want one of those frames. (hint, hint)
The landing skids I got from Xgearheli. They have now for the 700's.
The only thing is that you have to beef up the rear spring a tad to make it stronger or get another spring.
On my 600 I cut a couple of links and that did it.
here you go..http://www.xgearheli.com/

I would get some profile cut but I would need a Cad drawing and that’s where most of the cost comes into play plus with the rumour about the Align gasser looking as though it might be true I doubt many will be looking for 700 conversion frames now.

I was just at a fun fly and there were a few 700 N's there. They have all changed the main gears to a custom 1.0 Mod pitch. The stock gear 0.7 will just strip with the 90 nitro engine. Can you change this gear on yours? I can't remember the name of the company that does this.

Hi Vince

I could but I don’t fancy the extra cost especially when Align should be offering a free upgrade after so many failures, I can adjust the gear mesh so I will give the stock gear a try first and see how it goes

I agree with you on that one Peter. But where's the fun and the chalenge building it your self.
I have great fun doing this conversion I'm sure you did also.
That means even though we are not engineers we can make something worth keeping. I will keep my gasser's both conversions I did.

Anybody can buy one but to make one that's a victory.

Cheers mate

Well Kenny certainly came up trumps with making me a replacement clutch bell and he’s also making me a new start shaft as the Predator shaft is 25mm to short for the 700 conversion.
I've finished the canopy now so I'm just waiting until I get a set of blades and then it’s ready at long last.
Kenny tells me he can and will CNC any custom Heli part in the future and judging by the quality of the bell he’s just made for me I don’t doubt his ability for a second.

The 231 idled for a full tank yesterday at the field with both needles set at 1½ out and sounded very sweat, I’ve never had one do that before without having to rev it now and again to clear the engine before it stalled and I did wonder if that was down to the muffler being a good match.

Sent you a PM with the Makers name

I like the paint job simple but it looks good. Did you clear over the stickers. I too would like to know what muffler that is and where i can get one? Do you have the frame in a CAD drawing i would like to look at it in my CAD system? That is a 26cc motor right? How is your plane coming?

Thanks for pics i like it

Fixit, are you going to start selling these Trex 700 gassers as kits for the rest of us who lack the skills to design our own?

Yes M8 I did use clear over the stickers, unfortunately no Cad drawing and that has been a problem ever since I started doing gas conversions, I have Cad 09 but haven’t got a clue what to do with it and don’t think I ever will.
The plane is finished and has been test flown but not by me, I still haven’t plucked up courage to fly it yet.

I have thought about it in the past but with Align and Century having new Gassers one on the test bed it hardly seems worth it now.
