I was curious,as I dropped mine into a machine shop this arvo and the employee thought there may not be enough meeat to put the new thread
in for the pinion. However the boss willl be back in the morning, and I will find out for sure.I will get a second opinion if it is a prob. But I may have an alternative if I cant tap it,we shall see
Got the century gear this morning,so I can start on the frame ssoon.

Regards Neal

The bell has plenty of meet on it; I think his boss will confirm that on his return unless it's an excuse because they can’t do the fine thread.

Well most of my 600 build pictures were lost when RR crashed last year but I did manage to find one showing what I use to cut the frames out although its not the best angel, perhaps someone downloaded a better one and could post it for you.

Neal, I actually used a router upside-down in the vice and not the jig saw for the frames but I cant find any pictures at the moment.

O.K. Router, mmmm that would be a lot easier than what I did,I will be getting one before I cut my next set of frames. That would have saved me hours.I follow what you mean about upside down. Thanks Peter

Thanks all, I have managed to get the frames cut out.Took awhile but came out alright. Will finish them off at the weekend.Dropped the fan and pinion into get the fan machined today, pick it up Tuesday. For what that is costing it would actually work out a tad cheaper to get a complete pinion made to correct specs, with thread to suit,if I ordered a dozen or so! Anyway filling in time building head and tail.

I think the speed would have been way to fast for that kind of bit in the Mill, did you check the direction?

I using the same bit as Zorba and its still going strong after three frame sets

Hi Dana, that’s all I have at the moment, but I believe it to be genuine, I was told a few weeks ago they have two prototypes on the go.
Some one will step in with more info I'm sure.

Nice job Fixit, I think when I complete the Spectra I will have to see about a 700 conversion. This is a strange hobby, need more power on the field, need more parts and projects (=money) off of the field.

PS: looks like you need to add a cnc router to your shop
