These type of mods are part of the enjoyment of the hobby. To me the enjoyment does not end on the field and with more time off of the field than on, its good to go into the build room and have a few pet projects going on.

Next step, find a nice bench top cnc lathe / mill / router

Have fun!

Yea I have to get me one of them or all three.

Thanks for the info

Lathes

Just picked up a nice little lathe, that i would say was originally a clockmakers tool. Can be converted to a drill stand and milling machine. It is quite old made in Austria but no wear or run out, ideal for the type of work we would want it for and is only about a couple of feet long, just as a full size lathe but in minature , fully portable if you fancy a bit of machining on a summers day in the garden

Team- unbiased opinion,no experts here just trying to help thats all.K.I.S.S principle upheld here

I would appreciate it if you start a new gasser thread for your Heli and not post any more Links on this thread, I’ve already had two of my threads closed down and would hate you to make this the third for me, you could also ask Mark Ryder for advertising rights before you post to save them getting pinked and eventually banned.

No hard feelings, just looking after my thread

Cheers

Hi Dana, Nice of you to drop in again, things a very slow in the 700 gasser department at the moment, first I had to wait for another bell because of a threading mistake and now I’m waiting for a start shaft, the Predator start shaft I was going to use is 25mm short and although I have a pull start I need the start shaft to hold the clutch in line and also drive the Jewel.

What do you mean you had a threading problem, did you thread it to the wrong pitch? Thats esey to do when your looking at a lot of things at one time. Let use know how it goes? I wold like to see some pics of you project? What motor are you using?

A friend threaded the Century Bell for me to accept the Align pinion and used the wrong speed setting on the miller causing the tap to act more like a drill so he made me a new Bell from scratch, just follow the thread back a few pages and you will find pictures and info about the 700 conversion, the motor is a standard Zenoah 231 PUH.

I now have the new start shaft a set of 3D Pro 700 blades and a new flight pack at long last so the 700 should be airborne this weekend, I’m thinking of calling it eternity as it's taken me that long to finish it

I tried the 700 Gasser for the first time today even though it was very windy, I wasn’t looking forward to trying it in the wind but when you take a new heil down to the club you can’t get away without trying it on spool up it sounded more like a nitro than a gasser it was that smooth and quiet and I’m thinking this can’t be right so I left it just light on the skids to give it time to warm up and then increased the throttle very steadily still thinking the worst was going to happen any minute but to my amazement it hovered just after mid stick and it was still silky smooth
The wind was bad so I only hovered it twice for a short time but it was long enough to taco the head speed and that came in at 19055; it’s still set rich so I will need to lower the throttle curves to get the head speed down befor I lean it out any more.

This is the smoothest gasser I’ve owned and flown to date and I would like to think & say its all down to my good work but I’m thinking the super heavy duty clutch plays a big part in smoothing out a lot of the vibes.

I just know someone will ask so
Main gear 164
Pinion 27
Blades 700
Head speed 1955
No Gov at this point

How do I feel now? Brilliant and I’m already looking forward to the next conversion
