Well I was going to have a break from theses conversion for a while after doing the two 600s and a Raptor 90 but I just couldn’t resist having a go with the 700
I played about with some graph paper and a bit of scrap 1.5mm plastic sheet today and made up some mock frames just to see how things would fit and because the 700 frames are spaced at 60mm I will be able to use the Century Super Heavy Duty NX clutch on this one.

Being able to order the clutch without having to pay the duty and excessive delivery would be nice but there are no NX parts available in the UK

More soon probably

Look good Fixit, i would like to see or whole process as i might want to do a 700 also. It look pretty much like the stock 700 frame what all do you have to change to get it to work? Could you put the stock 700 frame up side your frame and take a pic?

Thanks

The two frames are very similar and I did think about using the 700 mechanics in my converted 600 frame as I’m sure it would work, all the holes, servos and main gear are in the same place as the 700 but the rear servo moves up front on the 700 and the tail fixings have a different bolt pattern
I will place the 700m frame on my mock frame a take a picture later for you.

Hi Dana
I hear what you’re saying and I tried following the thread about kicking the habit but it didn’t work much for me, I guess I must be a gassaholic
Your idea of making mock frames first worked well but the plastic I used is awful to work with, to slow and it chips, to fast and it melts but I did manage in the end.

Hi Dana
Is the masonite Cheap then?
The plastic I used came out of a skip at the suppliers and you don’t get much cheaper than that and that's why I persevered with it I guess

Picture of booth 700 and mock 700 frames.

I've just sold all the bits from the kit like the frames, clutch, hub, shroud and so on that aren’t used for £110 to go towards the clutch and hub etc.
It all helps

Peter Hi, You are not playing fair. You could of waited till I finished my 600 before you takled another one.
Darn I hate leaving things unfinished.
If I buy another heli that soon they will cancel my lease.

Good work pete let us know how it turns out.
I'm stillwaiting for the carb lever.

Cheers

Hi Dana

yes I used the 600 tank for two reasons, one was the 90 is a thirsty engine but the 231 isn’t so we would be carrying extra weight for nothing and the second reason was so I can mount a servo above the tank for the throttle, I could have squeezed a mini servo and kept the 700 tank but like I said we don’t need all that fuel anyway.

Hi smallplanes
You might get away with less work if you use the 700 drive train and shroud but I would always be worrying about the clutch and the cooling that way

Hi Bill (zorba)
Sorry M8, I did try to fight it believe me but after a week watching TV I just had to do something and the 700 conversion seemed a good idea before Align beat me to it
Don’t worry I’m still flying the 600 231 and I love it but the 20cc 600 might have to go to help fund this project.

I agree with you same here. You are right the 20cc has to go. After driving a Porche why go back to an old pickup truck.
Keep posting I'll be watching.
Cheers

I think you are right. I can't get my head around a 20cc in a heli. It is barely enough for a plank.

What could be more fun?

Well it’s Sold provisionally but don’t be under any illusion about the 20cc it performs Tick Tocks and rolls as good as any gasser will and it loves to rev.
