Personally, I run 87 AKI pump fuel.

If I could get unleaded aviation fuel, I would run that.

Did you re-needle the carb each time you switched the fuel mixture ?

For my side by side comparsion, yes I did try and tweak the high end needle valve to get the best performance with each fuel. I realize a weed wacker engine is nothing compared to a modified Zenoah motor, but it was the only available gas engine I was willing to experiment like this with.

Unleaded aviation fuel is 96 MON, right? How does that octane number compare to the different grades of pump gas?

I know nothing about the difference between the 2 fuels.

What I do know is Hotwings was kind enough to let me play with his gasser that used camper fuel.

I typically fly crazy powerful electrics so I know what good power feels like

I could tell his heli had a little weight to it but man did that engine have some serious balls to it...its was pretty darn hard to come close to bogging the engine...it just kept pulling and pulling.

I was also really impressed that he flew it all day with out fueling up again

96UL aviation would be around 100 - 102 AKI. No way of really determining, but most fuels are around a 10 point RON/MON difference.

It is basically 100LL without the lead.

No alcohol, smells better.

Extra octane/AKI doesn't hurt, except the wallet.

i can tell you that a couple of real hot pilots (thanks David and Carlo) flew my pred (hanson 260puh) on sat and did every thing that they do with their 700's with no problems, coleman with 4 oz amsoil, then i flew it and did about 20 auto's without a hiccup, works for me. Ron

Please cancel my clearance, I have the field in sight.

Did Eco8gator fly it like "a bird trapped in the garage" as he does with the flybarless 450 in his Probar videos? If so, maybe you could let him do it again with your Predator, but this time take a video of his flight and put it on Youtube.

I'd like to see what a gasser is capable of in expert hands.

just like everything else..put five guys in a room and you end up with six different answers and everyone is right .till someones wife tells them the answer .....the right answer is ....use what you like for your reason and if the dam thing burns up falls out of the sky..hope it dont hurt anyone, shovel up the wreck..go home and buy more parts..its suppose to be fun..not like it has to get you too work in the morning..my two cents..enjoy.

camper fuel dont give ya a headache when you drive with it in the car..try that with a bit of gas on your hands..

I could not find Coleman Fuel in Hong Kong but was given Pegasol 1425 (ALIPHATIC PETROLEUM NAPHTHA ) when I asked for "White Gas" from a local hardware store. The Chinese translation for Pegasol is "Industrial White Gas"

What are the precautions I should take in trying this ? An will it damage the engine, Zenoah G260.

Thanks,
JeffY
