What's confusing for me is the advert says they are F3C, however in two places below they say clearly they are for 3D? Which one are they?
Steve
They are both, I don't know how they come now days but they have the 3D head inserts and the manual shows the setup for both FAI and 3D.
Because of the weight, the Avro is probably a better FAI machine than a 3D. However they can be flown hard 3D by someone that is a good 3D pilot. A flying buddy of mine flew my eAvro hard 3D and his comment was, "I think if it had 8717s it would fly like my Aurora". Then I told him that it was setup for FAI. Yes they are heavy but I don't think they fly heavy and maybe that is because mine probably has more power being electric.
Somehow I think my comment generated confusion. I was referring to the blade advert that Bond007 posted just a few threads above, not about the ability of the Avro to do both 3D & F3C modes. I just mentioned that the advert makes mention of both 3D and F3C for those blades in particular. I agree that the blades are a bit heavy for 3D, however they still could be used I guess.
Bond007,
I went to the Century site and I was unable to find those blades on the site. I wonder if this is a special order blade or whether it has been discontinued by Century. I've not been able to find anything about them here in the US.
Thanks for the info though. I did hear that the SG blades are due in sometime in the next two weeks. I'm going out to Ohio to a F3C training work shop on May 2nd and 3rd. Looking forward to trying my hand at this mode.

Your next stop, the Twilight Zone. Now get'a move on....Hey, get me a cold one first..!!
I believe, initially these blades where specially made for a couple of pilots for the european championships last year
I have only seen them available on the site I linked in my post above. I couldn't find them anywhere initially, then saw this link by coincidence in the Aerobatic/F3C forum here on Runryder
They do ship worldwide though, and when you get the SG720's, if you like them, then it would be worth trying these 700's.
I've been going through my builder blog updating some stuff here and there. I've been adding information describing the numerous pictures I've posted on each of the pages.
I also added a new page which I've titled "Builders Notes" This page covers various items either not in the manual, or items the builder needs to pay special attention during the build. Only a couple of items up so far, more to follow. I you have a particular item that you feel would be useful for that page, please feel free to send me your comments.
I looked at all the pics you have posted on you site...great site by the way! But I would like to see how the receiver and connectors all came out. Looks like you put a lot of work into to with the wire coverings but I do not find a pic with the canopy off after completion. I'm working on cleaning up all the wires on mine now. Thanks for builders Blog, great help!
Basically, I just made tight "S" turns out of each wire and stacked them on top of each other and ran the back of the bundle into the frame. What you see is the remaining with a larger zip tie to keep it together. Only two were rather long, the rest were easy enough to bundle and hide.

Looks good, thanks for posting so pics! Do you have the gov activated yet? I'm using the same setup, makes for a very clean install! How do you have your throttle curves and what end points on Aux 2? Thanks!
Some video & pic's of my Avro in flightHere is a video sequence of a series of flights today during tuning and continued break-in of the new Avro. Still running rich, and you will notice in the third segment, I had a forced auto due to a bad glow plug. Yes, it was windy again, had to deal with 25mph winds with gusts every once in awhile a bit higher.
Also good news, the backorder delay is over on the Scott Gray 720 F3C main blades, a pair has been shipped. I should have them this week.
Here are a few pics from today's flight.
In addition, I've posted the same video, and some "Builders Notes" over on my build page. Check them out.
spartan hardmountedI hard mounted the spartan and now tail will not hold. It drifts slowly to the left. Mounted the tape and steel tape and it hold perfect. can anyone tell me whats the reason for this.
I would imagine the rubber mounted Gyro Plate is still too ridgid for most Gyros. I never tried to use a gyro hard mounted to that plate and have never had a problem. As long as it work with gyro tape, who cares.
Making good progress with the Avro. It's flying real well and the break-in went OK. I've been busy flying it and haven't had much time to get some more video up. So here is another series of frames and pictures from today's Memorial Day flight.
Enjoy...

More Vids....The Avro continues to get better and better. I'm getting out flying with it on a regular basis now. We've been dealing with rather windly conditions lately and it is a bit tricky.
All and all I'm having a great time.
I've added a couple more video's up on my builders page, so please take a look see. The builders page is full of tips, pic's, and vid's.
Update to my Builders page...I hope everyone is having a good flying season...
I've been tinkering around in my Builders Blog over the last few days and added some stuff here and there.
One thing to visit is my new gallery page with the mose recent photos of the Avro in action. Right now the gallery is just photo's, but I expect to be posting video's very soon.
So please feel free to take a look. As always, the pages are full of builders tips, pictures, and a few video's.
