Oh by the way, try not to spin your turbine wheel, you might damage the bearings.

Helibeli, I know it looks bad but if my Wren is anything to go by, these engines are tough as hell! He'll fix it, I'll put money on it, if he can get the parts out of JetCat he'll do it, and if they won't sell him stuff there are alternatives
I once tried to get a set of head gaskets for a Lamborgini Muira, they wanted $4000 for 2 poxy gaskets, in the end I had them made for $300 and they were perfect, we are talking about a $200,000 car here.
So toy jets are no problem.
I recon it will cost you $400 to fix the turbine unit tops. Then you have the electrics to cost up but it's worth doing for sure.
I just think this is the coolest way to get into a turbine, I'm well fired up for you to succeed... which you will.

I would like to hear opinions but not opinions about the past, its been bought I made the choice and I took on the challenge, nuff said about that.

Now about the previous owner, he is one of the nicest guys that you would find in this sport and will always land, shut down his machine and come assist or teach another before he would continue to fly himself. He helped me first get started with helis and probably hundreds of others. He even runs a small hobby shop in his home for those that need those hard to get parts, and instead of gouging he charges fair prices, sometimes lower than his cost was. The incident with this heli was purely a mishap and could have happened to anyone, and I think that if it did happen to someone else it would have been a total loss rather than what it is right now. And to give you another snippet of how great this guy is, if you go to XFC or IRCHA this year you will see him flying several guys in from the local club in his private plane.

I will be only too happy to help you on here and on the phone (will PM you my number call anytime for advice I'm always awake).

Ya know I have a laptop with a webcam LOL now that would be a first, a yahoo group rebuild session, wow that would be something. Now if I can just the laptop away from my wife haha.

I need a site to learn all of the terms and such as I don't have a blow up schematic of the turbines internal parts. I think that would be the best way to start so I have all the terms down. I have no idea what a diffuser thing is or even where it would be inside the turbine.

The turbine up close and starting to get personal.

The dent

The intake screen has seen better days I'm sure.

Side view of the dent

Exhaust with EGT sensor still in place.

By the look of the intake screen, it doesn't look like a broken belt took it down; I think it sucked up a cat and stalled out...

Sorry for the delay, just been out playing with Matts Zealous..
Right if you are definately going for this then here is what you do, I think. Now doing this remotely is gonna be harder way harder because without it infront of me it's not possible to get any kind of feel for what is going on BUT here goes..

You need, I think, to remove the sensor temp probe and the jet nozzle via the 3 cap screws then take photo of removed parts.

Next Remove the outer case and stop... photo of removed parts and whats inside from 3 angles.

I understand the firm but gentle, I will remove the oustide casings on the intake and exhaust sides of the engine as I got to that point and was a bit confused by a lot of cap screws looking at me!!! I think what I will do is just that and then post up the pictures. Also what should my goal be for this? Cleaning? Inspecting? Replacing? Machining? I can do the first 3 the machining forget it!!!

Now back to business. Here is the first part of the turbine disassembly. The front screen and the rear exhast "cover" have been removed.

Front Screen removed by unscrewing 3 button head screws with star washers around the circumference of the cover.

Here is the inside of the front screen, you can probably see the melted leftovers of the tubing that connects to the turbines front.

Here is the exhaust area of the turbine showing a ton of cap screws.

Now just waiting instruction on how to procede

Right, what you need to do I think is to remove that nut on the compressor stage, don't worry about the pipework just yet or the NGV at the exhaust end. It's the nut that has to come off. Trouble is as you can see I think you need a special tool for that nut.
However can you take a few more views of that compressor wheel from the side and around, try and get it well lit if possible. Also in your opinion does it look like there is any place on it to get a spanner? Also if there is don't try and undo it because it will more than likely be a lefthanded thread.

More pics if that nut please
